DiCaprio started in the early 90s. According to imdb, Cavil's first credited role was early 2000s... not many stars made in that time.

I feel like at the time, pretty much all the original x-men cast members were unknown at the time outside of Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen....
I just think Wolverine even in the cartoon of the 90s was the cool guy and cyclops is a bit too stiff.
I guess the point I'm making is that Hugh Jackman just kinda stole the show as a relatively unknown actor.
I've always found Cyclops boring and the casting wouldn't likely change that.
