Michael also lost his stature as the straight man, and the show suffered a bit for it.
Here’s the thing: Michael was never the straight man; Michael only thought he was the straight man. Michael is just more competent than the rest of his family and can navigate life a bit better. He’s just as Bluthian as the rest and completely lacks self awareness.

About the only purpose she serves is an object for GM's awkward cousin love and to show how awful her parents are. She's completely forgettable otherwise imo
Maebe as Lindsey's pimp was great, and under used.

Where does Franklin rank in that list?

You left out Oscar and Gene Parmesan.
Lucille
Buster
GOB
Barry
---------
Everyone else
Terry Crews as Herbert Love was a great addition. I about fricking died when he, Lindsey, Michael, and Rebel had dinner together.
"I guess the special tonight is red snapper."

Best Franklin moment was them in the music recording booth and Franklin singing into the mic.

I slightly disagree here. His naivete is what gets him into situations, not his general stupidity, at least in the beginning. He does a bit more wacky with Mr. F and all of that, but it isn't too bad. Season 4 he becomes an idiot though.

I never said Michael was stupid. Stupidity isn’t the hallmark of being a Bluth; being naive and having an extremely overly inflated opinion of yourself is. The only Bluths I would describe as dumb are GOB, Lindsay, and Buster. The joke isn’t that Tobias is stupid, it’s just he’s gloriously naive.

Michael will always be my favorite. His mannerisms and reactions to the crazy things his family does is hilarious.
Tobias, Lucille, and Buster are great too.
The rest feel like complementary characters

The entire inside joke with Maebe is that she is capable, yet legitimately dumb
One word: Oscar
Methodone
I think the only legitimately smart ones are Lucille, George Michael, and Michael.

The first three seasons of that show are hilarious. Every one of them was great. Four sucked. Five is actually pretty decent so far but can't recapture the magic.
Franklin is also my favorite character. Only a couple moments but damn, when he is singing In the recording booth, then the time says "I AINT KISSING THAT OLD BITCH" and George Sr says that's my wife

Lucille also believed this crap. She fell for Gene Parmesan repeatably. It’s because Barry Zuckerkorn is dramatic and tells a good story. All the Bluths fall for flair and the dramatic. It is the family’s kryptonite.
I think the best case that George Sr is an idiot is putting money in the Banana Stand.
