Remember Romper Room & Sesame Street early on, but then Speed Racer era shows. Johnny Quest felt like James Bond type stuff for kids. Later it was crazy 70's stuff, like Land of the Lost, HR Puffinstuff, Sigmund and the Sea Monster and the parade of objectively bad live action shows.

For you Batman and Robin (and Match Game) fans, here is a fun clip.

It's weird to think about now that we live in an era where we are bombarded with this kind of stuff but Unsolved Mysteries and America's Funniest Home Videos were huge back in the late 80s. The idea that we could get these non-fictional microdoses of true crime and goofy videos was pretty crazy and foretold of the world to come.

Match Game
I remember watching these game shows as a young kid with my parents. Had no idea what things like "making whoopie" meant.

When I was a kid I thought everybody in England was a perv who just chased women around. This show was all I knew of the old country.
Syndication rights must have been cheap and the affiliates had nothing to compete with Carson so they just said what the hell, let's just show a horny old man chasing young women around the park every night.

Happy Days.
Back when a TV show could be watched only one night per week and there were only three options at a time, EVERYONE watched it. The previous night's episode was the major topic of conversation Wednesday morning at school.
