What movie based on a historical event would you like to see made?

It can even be a fictional account. Even though we know absolutely nothing about them I’d like to see a movie about the two thieves that were crucified with Jesus.

I love Pirate shite so I would love a movie about Bartholomew Roberts also known as Black Bart. He was probably the most successful pirate ever, capturing like 400 something vessels.

He was a huge pain in the arse and had pretty much halted all trade in the West Indes. He had a pretty glorious death too.

Or the story of Captain Kidd, who was hired to hunt pirates.

The raid and trial of Jacques de Molay, Templar Grandmaster. 1307. With flashbacks to his rise in the order and the Siege of Acre in 1291.

That sounds like a damn good movie in the right hands.

There's a book on this, IIRC called The Class of '46

That's actually a very good idea

I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one novel about them

They have movies about tornadoes, but what about a movie about Hurricane Laura/Delta. Maybe have a couple different families and have them all come together in the end showing that they will rebuild.

Jeff Davis 8

A movie that covers top Nazis who escaped to South America

really cool that both Saint Dismas (the thief that repented) and Gestas were incorporated into Uncharted 4 but only slightly. Even their small bit of history was interesting so I'd be down for a flick

Not a good "historical event" but a historical event nonetheless. I think the Murder Machine/For the Sins of My Father story (Roy Demeo Crew/Nino Gaggi) would make one of the best mob films ever if directed and casted correctly.

The Munster Rebellion bar none specifically written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It might be the craziest fricking story from history I’ve ever heard. Each twist you start laughing and think to yourself “There’s no way this actually happened.” It’s got everything. Religion, war, sex, violence, and bleak hilarity throughout. Everyone dies but the Duke that was chased out of town, but man it’s an incredible story. As for the cast throw in Margot Robbie somewhere in there as one of the religious women in the town, and the others here’s who is cast.

Jan Matthys: Brad Pitt
Jan of Leiden: Leonardo DiCaprio
Bernhard Knipperdolling: Christoph Waltz

Not sure who the other Bernard should be, but I think it reeks of Tarantino. Call it “Prophets of Doom” like the Dan Carlin Hardcore History episode I found out about this insane story (definitely listen to it), and the logo will have each of the “O”s as the three cages (of would be between the cages) where the film ends.

Yes, I would like to see a good movie about the man without whom there would be no United States Of America.

No, not George Washington.

Benedict Arnold was a hero of the Revolution -- there is actually a monument to him at Saratoga. Why would he throw all that away?

There was a movie in the '50s about the Andre affair, where Arnold was a supporting role. Script wasn't so hot, although the color location photography was great.

There was an A&E TV movie about 20 years ago that was somewhat better, though some of the casting was kinda off (Kelsey Grammer as George Washington?)

Laura/Delta?

A movie that is SCREAMING to be made is the Saints during the Katrina season.

There's never even been a 30/30 about it. My guess is the Bensons don't want to remind anybody that Tom intended to move the team.

THEe Battle of New Orleans has only been done the one time that I'm aware of, The Buccaneer with Yul Brenner as Lafitte and Charlton Heston as Jackson.Buccaneer

And I can't believe that no one has ever done a biopic on the real life Marie Laveau.

Battle of Palmito Ranch
quote:

The battle took place more than a month after the general surrender of Confederate forces to Union forces at Appomattox Court House, which had since been communicated to both commanders at Palmito
quote:

Union and Confederate forces in southern Texas had been observing an unofficial truce since the beginning of 1865, but Union Colonel Theodore H. Barrett, newly assigned to command an all-black unit and never having been involved in combat, ordered an attack on a Confederate camp near Fort Brown for unknown reasons. The Union attackers captured a few prisoners, but the following day the attack was repulsed near Palmito Ranch by Colonel John Salmon Ford, and the battle resulted in a Confederate victory. Union forces were surprised by artillery said to have been supplied by the French Army garrison occupying the up-river Mexican town of Matamoros.
