The Battle off Samar where Taffy3 took on the Japanese Center Force and forced it to withdraw.

Who wants to see that shite? I mean more people should know about it, but that’s just horrific. A major documentary in the theaters, absolutely, but not a movie. It’s even worse than Auschwitz since at least most of those guys got their due and Schindler is a character of heroic redemption in the human spirit. I don’t see where you could possibly take a Unit 731 movie and not want to leave the theater in absolute disgust.

THEe Battle of New Orleans has only been done the one time that I'm aware of, The Buccaneer with Yul Brenner as Lafitte and Charlton Heston as Jackson.
That was a remake of a much, much better film

My favorite scene has Lafitte fighting a sword duel in the dungeon of The Cabildo

A 10-part series on the First Crusade would be fantastic if the budget was on par with Game of Thrones. A lot of interesting characters and events to cover during the course of the Crusade, but the atrocities would be rough to watch.

Agreed. That would be fantastic so long as the right people are involved.

My great grandmother lived to be 105 years old. Born in 1896 died in 2001. I have always marveled at how much the world changed during her life. A movie tracking the major events and changes in the world/US through those year through the life of a random middle class girl/boy.

As I typed this, I did realize that this seems a little Forrest Gumpish and not really a historical event.

I'd like to see a really well done movie or mini series about the Battle of the Teutoburg Forrest. It would have a lot going for it - it would make for some great battle tactics, it was an event which really impacted history, and the guy who led the Germanic forces was trained by and had the trust of the Roman military.

That would be fantastic. And the atrocities would be no worse than any other war movie.

There are so many interesting battles, wars, and events throughout history that haven’t been done on film. Always frustrates me to see the billionth movie set in WWII.

I’d like a Third Crusade movie. It could even be billed as a Kingdom of Heaven sequel.

Empire of the Summer Moon

Empire of the Summer Moon is a stunning historical account of the forty-year battle for control of the American West and of one of its most remarkable narratives: the century-spanning saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her half-white son Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanche.

I would love to see a truly well made WW I air combat movie. Make it based around one of the aces like Werner Voss or von Richtofen. Another great one would be the French ace Charles Nungesser. Guy partied hard, was an incredible combat pilot and may well have beaten Lindbergh across the Atlantic.
