Sleepy Hollow is so underrated. So many legendary actors in there

I’m a sucker for these movies. Some of the later sequels were pretty bad, but I thought this one was pretty good.

Finally caught When Evil Lurks last night. Holy shite. As a lifelong horror fan the modern stuff rarely does it for me anymore but my god does this one hit the mark. This one isn’t fun and it isn’t campy. Have a similar mindset going in as the first time you watched The Exorcist or Texas Chainsaw. That said it certainly isn’t for everybody.

I liked it but I found it also kinda annoying in how matter of fact it portrays things. Hard to understand the world or understand the world building. Still a good watch.

If you like the movie, the director did another movie that was even more popular named Terrified. I only saw the first scene but a lot of people have said it’s truly one of the scariest movies they’ve seen in modern horror

I watched it on Billy Bob’s drive-in on Shudder so he talked about a lot of the background. It was written during / about Covid so that’s where he got the idea of making possession viral with a bunch of rules that are impossible to follow completely, relying on government response for help against something that could infect anybody including animals in this case. People killed from car accidents with Covid were classified as Covid deaths. It was literally the case here. Whole classrooms being infected and killing their teacher.

Once you know that I don’t think he was trying to make it matter of fact. It’s just a unique take on the genre based on a different type of “outbreak”. Not sure he cared about any world building but if it’s successful enough you never know.

Yep. One of my go to recent horror movies.

If you haven’t seen Abigail yet, same group involved and very similar feel

Just finished the new Speak No Evil. The only thing that kept me on edge the entire movie was how incompetent and idiotic the characters were. I have no idea how it is getting the good reviews it is. McAvoy plays a psycho very well, but everything else was just a joke.

Terrifier 3 and Smile 2 should be entertaining. I like OP's original list. Old movie I have never seen (just remember a body mentioning it back as kids in the old days when the town only had one movie rental spot), called Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things or something.

Haven't really looked hard for it and it probably is a terrible movie, but always stuck in my mind as sorting to watch since like 8 and never did so may try to find that.

Guess Neeve didn't want a paycheck this year so no new Scream. and I guess the last three somewhat not great Halloweens are supposed to be the end....but I give it a year or two.

Not a great movie but it’s glaringly missing from your sci fi list… Pandorum
