Summers at Mamaw’s when I was a kid. If the TV was changed off Young and the Restless from 11-12, you’d best be right with Jesus because there was a good chance you were going to meet him soon.

If I was out of school for whatever reason, me and my grandma would go to my great grandmas house with my chain smoking Aunt and watch Price is Right, Days of Our Lives, Bold and the Beautiful.

I would hate the soap operas but after a couple episodes I’d be really invested.

I used to watch the Young and the Restless with my grandparents and parents when I was younger.

I hadn’t watched in years and saw the newer characters and was like where is Nikki, Victoria, and Ashley. Some them are still there but most of the show is now carried by their kids. But at least they did keep some things in common, such as having cross family relationships with the newer characters that would make Alabamians blush and the infamous need for paternity tests. Also, the relationships between older generation characters and newer ones that they aged quickly to adulthood so they can sleep around. You would have thought by now Genoa City would have heard about condoms and birth control to help keep the character count down.

I now know what Bob Barker was talking about having your pets spayed or neutered, he wanted to make sure your pets didn’t live the the Young and the Restless lifestyle.

I can't quite remember but I do remember they had one of those giant satellites. Would stay up late past when they went to bed and find the porn channels and watch them scrambled. Every now and then we'd get lucky and find an unscrambled show.

My grandfather enjoyed Hunter. We’d watch it every Saturday night when we went to visit. He’s been gone for 33 years this week but I still see the show on occasionally. Brings back good memories.

The Lawrence Welk Show. Loved that

I would watch Lawrence Welk with them but I hated the show then. Now I watch it sometimes for the nostalgia. My favorite part is when they show the audience. All those grandparents with their cat-eye glasses and high water pants!

Wheel of Fortune

My grandmother never missed an episode and the second the show started you’d hear her unsnap her cigarette purse and light one up. I never see women with cigarette purses now but they all had them back in the 80s.

My grandfather was a huge western fan. I used to sit with him and watch old re-runs of Gunsmoke and The Rifleman.

Hee Haw, Lawrence Welk and college sports.

My maternal Grandma was a huge Razorback fan. She didn't live long enough to see one of her grandsons play OL for the hogs.
