Gotta agree to disagree here.

In this episode we got:

- The definitive reason why Rust/Marty split.
- That they potentially met before Marty's interview (and that there's a reason their stories are so in sync).
- That Rust met with Tuttle and there is a strong potential connection to an organization he ran being involved in the murders.

And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Plot moved forward plenty.

It's pretty damn clear that Rust finds Marty after his meeting with the black detectives. Same outfit and such. Rust was probably waiting nearby and saw Marty leave so he tracked him down to find out what he said and to show him what he has going on.

Yep. That scene strongly suggests to me that Marty's meeting with Rust is before his interview with the detectives.

Do you not think that he could have checked his gun because he might possibly think he's involved in the murders, as the two black detectives suggested to him?

we needed the split between rust and marty and reason why rust quit the force. i consider that plot development

i suppose

we all know my reservations about pacing

however, as a person similar to rust, let me say that rust would never have fricked marty's wife

your reasoning would mean the complete opposite. why would he feel the need to bring a loaded gun to a chat with marty if he didn't have planted in his head that marty could possibly be the killer

Anyone who doesn't think Maggie hasn't had a thing for Rust since the beginning hasn't been paying attention.

So they're gonna go get drinks as they said and then Marty is gonna go to the interview the same day?

I don't think Rust would wait to meet Marty after he has already spoken with the detectives. Marty was pissed at Rust because of the cheating thing and presumably the two hadn't spoken much (if at all) since their altercation.

Also, the detectives asked Marty in one of the previous episodes if they had kept in touch. I believe Marty says no - and the detectives said that they heard differently.

hes always had a connection with her, even when she was setting him up with her friends. a girl walks into your house when you are half a bottle of jameson in and throws herself at you.. yea you gonna get it in regardless of your personality and beliefs

Yep, he is the anti-Marty. What she has been looking for.

I see Future seasons being like Band of Brothers and the Pacific. While both great in their own right. Band of Brothers was damn near perfection.

Agreed. Everyone keeps saying this is the best, but it isn't better than BoB. Just isn't.

Agreed.

Disagree.

Maggie fricking Rust was sort of an important development and explained the rift between the two detectives. Plus, clues were dropping like a muthafrickah.

So did they hear that they talked the same day of the interview?

how would rust know how to find marty and that he had to warn marty? it's a stretch imho

Maybe you're right. Solid points. I still think the meeting was before Marty's interview, though.

Well the last time they had any contact, Marty told him he was going to kill him. At that point the Rust affair has completely ruined his love life. And it's not like Marty is above impulsively blowing someone's brains out either.

ETA: Also look at him beating the shite out of one of the kids that fricked his daughter. Marty holds a bit of grudge.

Exactly, you could basically see her vag breathing during the "you don't cut another man's grass" scene.

That was my least favorite episode, thus far. At this point I expected a lot to happen. I just don't see how you're going to close it up in two more episodes.
