Why does Rust & Marty's meeting in 2012 have to have been the same day as Marty's interview? Maybe they met a few days before marty's interview.

this whole interviews shows how much rust means to marty. going back through their relationship is basically the tale of their bromance. Marty wouldn't shoot Rust 12 years later after talking about how much respect he has for the man

True. But it depends on how you look at when the interviews took place in relation to when Rust makes his big reveal to Marty. Of course Marty is going to paint it like a bromance if Rust shows him that the cult has fricked with his daughter/someone he knows. Get the heat off so they can handle their business because they know how deep it runs.

Just checked Ep 1 again, the Rust interview was on April 26th, Marty on May 1st.
