The decline of quality LSD in the United States has always been attributed to missle silo raid in 1995, which coincidentally also marked the end of the Grateful Dead (because of Jerry Garcia's death). I wonder if Reggie Ledoux is a reference to this.

i don't think that we know nearly enough to make guesses about them/him just yet
that's why i'm trying to make sense of the theory. there is a lot of evidence to guess at a lot of different motivations

I saw something on reddit after the first or second episode talking about the imagery of the chemical plants, Dora's mom complaining about the chemicals she worked with debilitating her hands.
I'm not sure what, if any connection it would have, but I can't help but think every episode that they're almost like an extra character. It's like every 3rd scene you see a freaking chemical plant.

I think it definitely means there are clues to the CASE right under his nose - not JUST happiness. It's good writing - it can be taken on two levels. On the surface-level his talk about being inattentive and the clues to a happy life/ clues to cases being under your nose seems like he is thinking "I should have just been a good family man, I had THE life and threw it away", but, the WAY its said, the context, and what's showing on-screen when he says it, to me at least, shouts "there were clues right in my family, my life, right under my nose about the CASE."
I think his daughter is involved in the cult or will be. They clearly set her up as damaged goods from a young age. And not from inattention from the father. Her acting out as a teen could have something to do with that, but the drawings and the Barbie scene... that ain't because she overheard him or saw some case file and she wasn't doing that because dad wasn't around - she's been abused.
I also think there's something WAAAAY not right about his wife's parents. That whole scene was deliberately awkward and weird. Not a normal interaction. Not normal expressions/postures. And the focus on the Mardi Gras horseback and little girl picture... strange emphasis.

Yeah, and his mother-in-law's conversation with Maggie clearly indicated that she knows what it's like to the be the wife of a husband "up to something".

Haha..yeah, I noticed that the tattoo looked just like Matthew McConaughey. Had the McConaughey hair more than the Rust hair. Made me laugh.

agree with this. rust could have let ginger go because a. a guy like ginger isn't going to just start yapping to the authorities and b. ginger probably couldn't go back to his biker gang because they would execute him for being responsible for letting in an UC officer and getting their meth cooks killed.
had rust let ginger go, ginger probably just goes into hiding on his own. rust could have easily killed ginger as well since nobody is going to try to find him.
