i keep thinking of whats in cohles storage unit. and the more i think the more i keep thinking he ends up dying, and they end the show opening his unit to find whatever it may be. Either that A)they got the wrong killer again or B)Cohle himself was the killer

Maybe we're talking past each other. The cult seeks salvation / enlightenment. They are the opposite of Christianity because although they are structurally alike, they draw the opposite conclusions about reality.

Being speculated that it's the evidence that he's compiled on the case.

Yes, but this is now more than one occasion where he has said "solving a case is finding the clues that are right under your nose". There seems to be a big grey area between the case and the clues right under his nose within his own family. On the surface, we are meant to just assume he meant happiness.

I don't think there's any question that
a) his daughter is involved and
b) Rust's locker is full of evidence
I think it's 99% that Marty is not the killer. I give it a 1% chance only because I give it 1% that the show will totally disappoint.
