cool man...

not sure why you feel the need to talk shite about some show you have never seen, but continue on if you feel the need.

im being serious, i dont think they were trying to talk in a cajun accent. Both guys are Texans, & they talked in the same twang they do for just about every movie, imo

In reality I should have been looking at it as a romantic drama between two friends I think. The crime aspect was just a side story that in the end had little clue to the final outcome.

I was fooled as well and watched from the on air premier. I thought it was a detective show about solving a mysterious crime (with two great big time actors signed on to play the leads), only reason I started watching.

But apparently I was in the minority, because now everyone is claiming that they saw this as a character study from the start.

Its an anthology bro.

Yeah, bro, well if you read any of my posts about this show, you'd know that I don't buy the interviews about the show one bit.

I think NP doesn't quite know 100% what direction he is taking it, and if he does he has been clearly vague about certain things.

In one breath he says matter of factly it'll be a completely new storyline with new characters. Then he says he hasn't even started writing season 2 yet, and anything could happen.

Then he dangles a little carrot at the end of season 1.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning that it was more about the characters

why else would the show spend so much time on the outside lives of Rust and Marty if not?

Nah, my post was very very clearly tongue in cheek. If someone needs an emoticon to understand that then I don't know what to tell them.

I think it's fairly obvious from my post history that I'm not dumb enough to believe something like that.

Murder case, weak. Took them a long time to figure it out, but the clues were all there. They satisfied themselves by believing the halfbreed was the only person responsible for the girls death.

Relationship, alright, it was good. Would have never watched it for a romantic drama though.

neither of them seemed satisfied to me, as they both admitted that they didn't get them all

Cool, I still say it will be a diff story and diff characters. I could easily point out that Marty said you can't get them all.

Did you watch the show? They clearly say they didn't get them all.

You're right, I forgot about the last couple interviews. He did say that.

He also said there were rewrites on season 1 that changed the entire dynamic though.

Maybe I'm reading to much into it, maybe I am bending the clues to fit my own narrative.

I just have a feeling.

Yeah, I can admit that I was confused because as far as crime drama went it was kind of weak. No big deal, it wasn't a terrible crime drama.

People who wasted time trying to figure out the killer should be pissed because it was nearly impossible until it was obvious.

Still, some people fell in love with the show and have altered their expectations based on the outcome.

Just because it ended up being a character driven show doesn't mean that the story had to be neglected. By the end the plot and story sagged and ultimately ended up being pretty weak.

Look at BB for comparison. A show with a handful of great characters that never neglected the plot and story. A talented writer can still show a great character relationship within the confines of a wonderful and well-developed story.

Yeah, that's completely wrong.

Rust mentions his disappointment. Marty, as is typical, antagonizes Rust's remark.

This type thing has happened throughout the show, and we are later shown that Marty actually agrees with Rust. It is just in his nature to be argumentative with him.

So, in conclusion, we KNOW that Rust is not satisfied with shite. And we can speculate that Marty is not as well.

Holy crap! Did y'all watch the show?

What was the line right after "we didn't get them all." It was, "We got ours."

That sounds like self satisfaction to me. There was no more talk of taking down the cult or making people pay. They were content that the cult died with the halfbreed.

That seems sort of myopic.

from what i can gather on reddit, a lot of people summarize the show as this....

phenomenal acting and directing make up for writing that started out strong(by tying together 2 different timelines) and weakened over time.

this.

amongst friends, family, strangers, and acquaintances - there's a consensus building that the writing started falling apart ep6, but the great acting and even better directing held it together.
