Virtue signal casting at its finest. This is going to suck.
Just because the leads are female doesn't mean it's virtue signaling. Half of the US population IS female. And even in its shitty season, you had a female detective. This isn't new to this series.

The roots of the show always will be southern Gothic types and voodoo Louisiana and strong, grizzled yet scarred male leads.
Mahershala Ali isn't exactly "grizzled yet scarred" in Season 3 and it was based in (and filmed) in Northwest Arkansas.

It will likely be nothing like any of the first three seasons of TD.. because Pizzolatto is not even attached to the series anymore. For that reason I have about a 95% feeling this will be wokebroke before the end of the season
Even if the writers have the skill to emulate NP's style, it would be far-fetched they could pull off anything close to the vibe that S01 and S03 gave us. And if the writers turn out to be more focused on The Message, well then..

Season 2 wasn’t as bad as people say. It’s worst attribute was that it directly followed Season 1 which just might be the GOAT season of any series ever.
Season 3 was very good. Looking forward to this. Foster is a great actress

I was throwing a crank bait that looks just like this yesterday. Caught a nice 3lb bass.
Who told these dumbasses that this shite is attractive?

Yes, but they’ve set it in Alaska. Less than half of Alaska’s population is female. A super majority of Alaska cops, and officers throughout the country, are male (in the realm of 90%). So…extreme northern Alaska just happens to have two female detectives working together?
Guess we only have to worry about “reflecting the world in which we live” up to a certain extent (when the model doesn’t reflect reality, reject reality!).
It might not be woke, likely deserves a chance, and you can probably have faith that Jodie Foster will do a good job, but coupled with the other things we know so far concerns might be warranted.
Just looked up the other lead. She’s a professional boxer with only two previous acting credits, but maybe she can get into the role based on her background.

Season 2 is actually pretty good as a comedy. So bad its funny type deal.
The giant shootout mid-season was really funny actually

Everything is woke.
Obviously there's going to be a lot commentary on climate change.
I don't know why people keep setting themselves up for disappointment.

No chance. Everything is mandated to be woke now. There are literally organizations that Hollywood has aligned with that demand exact numbers of representation.

Ali and Dorff were on their A-game. I rolled my eyes when they announced Dorff- always thought he was a Hollywood prick. And he may still be. But, in my opinion, that was the best accent I've ever heard on any material I've ever seen. Sounded just like my uncle from lower Alabama.

Jodie Foster as a cop? Please. So tired of this WOKE bullcrap being shoved down our throats.
I guess an FBI agent is believable but a cop? no way.
fricking snowflake

Gross
Is this an all girl true detective? All black season 3, all girl season 4
I hope season 5 is midgets that’d be hilarious

Nice to see another season of true detective on the horizon, but lets hope its not another Season 2 disaster
I love Vince Vaughn, but that was just bad casting. The dude is just not intimidating. Playing intimidating just come across as comedy.

So Jodie Foster is working on this case. Sounds unique.
