"When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) must confront their pasts and the dark truths lying underneath the Arctic ice."

Nice to see another season of true detective on the horizon, but lets hope its not another Season 2 disaster

I've only watched the first season. McConaughey and Harrelson's. Wanted to watch both the 2nd & the 3rd and now the 4th one is coming. Great!

We may never get back to the heights of Season 1, but I’d hope the long breaks between seasons now means season 3 quality at least is the norm. Hopefully continuing to get amazing actors like Mahershala Ali and now Jodie Foster is a good sign.

Virtue signal casting at its finest. This is going to suck.

The roots of the show always will be southern Gothic types and voodoo Louisiana and strong, grizzled yet scarred male leads.

This looks like a poor man's Fargo at this point.

What are the odds that the two detectives assigned to this case BOTH have "pasts" related to the Tsalal Arctic Research Station? Or do they have pasts related to people vanishing without a trace?

lol, if by "roots" you mean that's what the first season happened to feature, then sure. The root of the show is, get this...detectives.

Now I'll easily admit that the southern gothic/Louisiana/voodoo stuff majorly contributed to why season 1 was so elite. In addition to simply being superbly written, shot, acted, etc. But the show "True Detective" itself has less than nothing to do with any specific location.

I liked it a lot too.

I started it, but never finished it. With so much of it including Colin Farrell's fat kid, it felt like I was watching a serious version of Vice Principals.

Season 2 is actually pretty good as a comedy. So bad its funny type deal.

Season 3 was solid.

This new one seems like an interesting story. Will watch.

Season 1 was my favorite season of any show ever and I didn’t even finish season 2. I couldn’t make myself care about any character.

Gives off Fargo vibes (movie not TV, frick that fat bitch). Could be good. Need to see more.

Season 2 was a parody of season 1. Season 3 was pretty good but it had the misfortune of needing to be the rebound from season 2 with an expectation of meeting season 1 heights.
