From poli board:
quote:
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker reportedly stunned a liberal Hollywood crowd this week after revealing they are proud Republicans. After receiving a ‘Freedom Award’ from Norman Lear’s left-wing organization People for the American Way Foundation, the pair apparently revealed their true political persuasion. “Trey Parker & Matt Stone of @SouthPark asked me to introduce them when they received a ‘freedom’ award from Norman Lear’s organization,” Larry Elder wrote on Twitter. “After they graciously accepted, they said, ‘We’re republicans.’ Nervous laughter. They repeated, ‘No, seriously, we’re republicans.'”
quote:
Although not overtly political, the pair have long described themselves as libertarians, but have claimed what they really dislike are the excesses of both political extremes. “What we’re sick of—and it’s getting even worse—is: you either like Michael Moore or you wanna frickin’ go overseas and shoot Iraqis,” Parker was quoted as saying in 2004. “Basically, if you think Michael Moore’s full of shite, then you are a super-Christian right-wing whatever. And we’re both just pretty middle-ground guys. We find just as many things to rip on on the left as we do on the right. People on the far left and the far right are the same exact person to us.”

No one is stunned. They even say they are middle of the pack in that article.

Think they just like getting a rise out of people.

It has long been a not so quiet secret that they Lean right on the political spectrum, but they also have skewered so many "conservative" subjects like the Pope and Trump etc that Hollywood kind of gave them a pass from criticisms.
Now that is official, I would wonder how many former celeb fans will begin to change their view of the show.
Its obvious they despise Trump, but I would say they are probably in the old school mold of Republicans, or as some would call RINOs now. I could see them being big fans of Rubio or Jeb Bush and hating guys like Cruz and Trump.
I really think the politically correct stuff just turn their stomachs more than anything

They’re trolling. They hate both sides.

I don't think the posters on the poli board or the writer of that article understand what the word "stunned" means.

I think its a question of who they hate the least. It seems the new progressive PC generation is at the top of their hatred list which is why they probably lean towards being republicans now.
For what its worth, im a republican, and i despise the far right evangelicals in my party.
Politics doesnt follow a binary code

Isn't that the truth. I'm a democrat who despises the extreme left who try to control what is and isn't ok for society based on people's feelings getting hurt. Was thinking this exactly this morning when I was listening to Dixie on the way into work.

These two are the best. It's going to be a sad day when decide to stop making South Park.

yeah, I thought this was kinda known for a long time now?

yeah... for the most part, Libertarians are what Republicans should be / wish they where
Sounds like:
quote:
After receiving a ‘Freedom Award’ from Norman Lear’s left-wing organization People for the American Way Foundation
either didn't care, or didn't do their research into the subject

No, they would both be more akin to Ron or Rand Paul than McCain. They are about as far from RINOs in their beliefs as it comes.

I don't know why this keeps getting posted. I've seen it on Milo's FB page and now twice here.
This happened quite a few years ago. They did it because PFAW is freakishly liberal. They have in the years since said that they actually identify most closely with libertarians, though they don't belong to a party.
