The funny part, as I see it, is people demanding what the authors/creators do. Eat a dick or write it yourself.
So is there a difference between Peter Jackson making Lord of the Rings and trying to stay as close to the world as possible and then the creators of the Rings of Power making something totally new? Or is that really the same in the end?
People are not demanding anything beyond keeping the world and characters as they are - and, most of the time, it's NOT the original creator changing a thing to fit some new political narrative. People DON'T want someone messing with something they like.
Again, you guys always miss the point in this.

General audiences don’t actually want this.

A single rom-com based on a book is as close as you get to original content:
That is what you are saying?

Stop blaming fans who pay your salaries or the beatings will continue.
It's not that hard to figure out.

You forgot "IF: at #14
so 2 movies that weren't sequels or remakes
and also going to the top 20, you get Longlegs and Bob Marley
Beekeeper, Migration, and Civil War in the top 25
People are hungry for new products and IP's. Look how eager people were for Rebel Moon, before it turned out to be horrid.
Writing in Hollywood is worse than it has ever been at any point in my lifetime. Writers are being cast, rather than hired. . .and it shows.

If i remember correctly from the tv series The Last of Us it completely changed the dynamic of the couple's relationship. They said they didnt want to put the only gay couple in a bad light so they made it appear as if the Frank died of some disease. In the game Frank actually grew to hate Bill and was running away from him and then gets bit by a clicker, writes Bill a note saying howmuch he hated Bill then hung himself. Thats kind of a big change in the dynamics of this couple if you ask me.

studios will assemble a specialized cluster of superfans to assess possible marketing materials for a major franchise project.
“They’re very vocal,” says the studio exec. “They will just tell us, ‘If you do that, fans are going to retaliate.’” These groups have even led studios to alter the projects: “If it’s early enough and the movie isn’t finished yet, we can make those kinds of changes.”
It wouldn't be necessary if they used writers, actors, and directors who actually are fans of the material.
If you want to inspire a bad reaction allow a writer who hates the characters and fans of a franchise to destroy the original meaning. If your goal is subversion you should expect the response

I get ire at the studio monoliths pulling levers for dollars...
but otherwise why are you all so caught up in the preservation of the story as you first experienced it?
How poor would the world be if the first volume was always the last?
And besides that, why do you feel empowered to dictate how the creative product will manifest? Just because you loved it as a kid, you get editorial input?

Or do what Marvel/Disney has done in some recent instances and tell your writers that they aren't allowed to read the source material.

Honoring and respecting the lore and the stories that came before, is not the same as wanting to watch the same story
The idea of The Acolyte, for example, had everyone excited. . .then came one of the worst promotional tours that could have possibly been undertaken. It was like a masterclass in how to turn enthusiasm into apathy. . .or outright disdain.
They saw Rachel Zegler, and said "hold my box wine"

This is a bastardization of something an marvel executive said on The Town pod that got aggregated by the comics clickbait homes.
He said they preferred pitches from directors/screenwriter that weren't so attracted to just one version of a given character. Because all marvel characters have had countless iterations with inconsistent and shifting continuities. Seems like a smart philosophy for trying to adapt generations-old characters.
So, yeah, they've always been allowed to read the source material.

If people can review bomb RT and other sites, what is to prevent LARGE corporations with billions from hiring a few programmers to create bots to only post positive reviews on said sites?
Posted on 10/3/24 at 6:36 pm to Jay Are
There were writers who were told NOT to read source material, iirc
That may have been Witcher, though

In keeping with the spirit and content of your comment, you can be one of our retarded fans.

Hollywood is more terrified of backlash from LGBT Twitter accounts for not being inclusive enough than they are getting hate from the fans of the existing material.

I just had a conversation with a coworker today about how I used to be really into movies. I used to watch every best pic oscar nomination year in/year out and would be genuinely excited for titles to release in theaters and on other media.
I don't give a shite anymore. I spend 90% of my time watching youtube now, and haven't gone to a theater in 6-7 years. These actors and film makers hate me, so why would I spend my hard earned money to support them. All the big actors I used to love, I can't stand now and every movie that I'm watching and enjoying now has some sort of shoehorned LGBT agenda tied into it that doesn't fit the plot AT ALL.
If they don't want to make movies for me anymore that's fine, but I'll find other ways to be entertained.

Another example of how lost these people truly are. Bashing customers is as stupid as it gets for a business.
