Nobody creates tension like Gilligan.

Lalo, Fring and the twins are some of the best bad guys on any show I can remember.

So well done. Their pacing, facial expressions, attention to detail.

We will not see the vacuum man again. Robert Forster died during the filming of season 5.

They may call him, but we won’t see him.

Then we realized the dental work was done so it could be a double for Lalo if he ever needed a dead body to match his dental records.

I didn't piece that together until just now.

Guess that's what I get for being in eastern time zone and tired AF

How did you know it was a body double? Did they say?

Why did he kill the woman?

I only ever remember the actress playing Betsy as the “ hey that’s Eva Mendes’ friend in Hitch”

Also,

Saul was living very large there in the opener.. . Wonder if he gets all that Sandpiper money or if the gold toilet and kardashian level closet is financed by his cartel/shady dealings .

All adds up in context now.

Had the dental work done on the man (to match his dental records)

He's a big hulking man similar to Lalo

Told him to shave his beard to match his facial hair (which doesn't make sense as he lit him on fire )

Grabbed the shears and never showed the scene again.

I like that they also didn’t show the shootout with Lalo and the two Coyotes that didn’t refund the money.

However, he’s very polite and lets the “amigos” know that they need to find another way North that day (and makes sure they get their money back).

In an alternate universe, you would think that maybe Lalo wouldn’t open the back of the secret compartment and let them know or he would even do worse to them (I.e. make sure no witnesses if he is trying to keep the illusion that he is dead).

My impression was that occurred after he went into hiding post-BB.

Yeah, that was likely the authorities packing up his house into evidence.

Gotta wonder if that cash that Saul is handing out gets him some unwanted attention.

Kim told him he needed a showy car to fit Saul's persona. It looks like he also had the house to match.

I thought all the pills were interesting, Saul doesn't seem like a guy that's popping pills in BB. We're those party favors he's acquired for guests? Between those and the underwear in the bathtub it looks like a bit of a party pad.

Also Kim's painting from her apartment was in the house.

He seems to be dealing with quite a bit of anxiety since the desert. He may need to be medicated to be Saul.

And what was going on at the end of BB certainly wouldn’t reduce the anxiety levels.

Not trying to stir up a pissing match, but does anyone want to discuss Kim dressing like Saul and closing the deal with the Kettlemans?

I’ll talk about how Kim is clearly helping create “Saul” now. “Is that the kind of car Saul would drive (a Taurus?)?” “What kind of office would Saul have?”

Those aren’t direct quotes, but at that Mexican restaurant she’s directly involved in creating the character of Saul. And I posted, “So, Kim’s the stick” before that scene with the Kettlemans—I realized it as soon as I saw the look on her face in bed when she said she was gonna go with him to the meeting. Saul grabbed the money, and said something about knowing Betsy and “a spoonful of sugar.” I can’t remember if he actually said the word “carrot,” but I knew right then what the title of the episode meant—Jimmy is the carrot part of Saul, and Kim is the stick.

So, I’m with you—and probably always have been—that J+K=S. HOWEVER, I’m only with that in the creation of Saul in the BCS timeline. I do not think Kim is involved in Saul’s business in any way in the BB timeline. I do think she’s alive—that flash-forward scene with Francesca where he tells her to be somewhere at a certain place and time (that day is Saul’s birthday btw) indicates to me she’s alive. I don’t see Saul being so genuinely excited if it was to do with anybody else.

BUT, I don’t think he’s in contact with her during BB. Or at least consistent contact. Maybe she calls him every year on his birthday or something. But she’s not lurking in the shadows during BB running Saul’s business. And even if she was, who cares? I’ve never understood why you think that’d be some amazing revelation. It’d be pretty “meh” to me. I’d find it more interesting for her to be doing just about anything else to be honest.
