This is the basic logic fail of everyone on here. These characters still exists in the BB world, including Kim. It's clear she's involved with Gene in some capacity.

We're almost half-way through and they haven't explained ISZA, which they have to do. There's no getting around that.

All you have to do is watch the Gene scene from season 3, episode 1.

There is a giant Kim red flag punching you in the face. I'm not going to explain it. Go look for yourselves and come back and explain to me how it means nothing.

I'll wait.

the irony is that strawman is just as bad as applying your logic with kim...

this is my new theory film crew + jimmy = saul. FC+J=S

the film crew was secretly working in the shadows to mastermind all commercial and media related endeavors. he always paid them in cash so he could protect their funds if caught. Saul just couldn't have been a lawyer without their clandestine aid.
Vince has been dropping obvious hints the whole time. just look at the gene scenes where he is watching his old commercials. its in a gene scene and their commercials were in teasers from 3 seasons ago so my theory is 100% confirmed fact. anyone who cant see what is so obvious is mentally challenged.

why was there only 1 toothbrush in the gene scene in the season opener? Kim is working closely with jimmy the whole time, is keeping the tequila stopper, desk, and paintings at his house, but no toiletries or clothes?
but a gene scene with a lunchbox means kim was there the whole time?

I thought he was trolling there for a while. But now I think it is some kind of mental issue.

It's crazy how much older Mike looks in BCS than BB. It's like they aren't even trying to make him look younger.

what specifically are you wanting them to explain? We know ISZA exists in the BB world, and we know him and kim have watched the movie together. The fact that both of them have seen a movie doesn't really prove anything though.

And then they have the nerve to show "young" Mike kicking young thugs asses in BCS. It's Deniro in The Irishman cringe level.

How would you like to be the make-up person to try and make this look 20 years younger??

Clear? No, it is not clear.

I am thinking Kim disappears via the vacuum salesman. If we are very very lucky we might see Kim show up and buy a cinnabon in the final scene.

no no no. theres a gene scene where he has a lunchbox and theres a teaser photo 4 seasons ago where they were standing side by side. the evidence is clear as day you just dont pay any attention to whats actually going on.

kidding aside. I thought we were supposed to get more kim backstory that makes us question everything we thought about kim this season. I think well have a better idea of what will happen if/when they get to this.

Tonight's episode is literally the most important thing in my life right now. I would turn down sex to watch it.

It was the first thing I thought about when I woke up for work… was I can’t wait for this day to be over so I can get home and watch BCS

I'm just ready to see Lalo running around Germany.

It's been too long since we've seen him.

I was a little hungover this morning and was really not feeling great but I knew it was Monday and I'd have Saul to watch later so that really pushed me through the day

I can easily picture Johnathan Banks just shaking his head and saying, "no thanks" when they try to get him in the makeup chair to look younger.

His attitude on talk shows didn't seem much different than Mike.

There’s a ton of visual clues that suggest Kim winds up behind bars. I tend to think it will be a literal prison, but it could be a personal prison she find herself in via being vacuum repaired/disappeared. Although, there’s also an interpretation that she’s still teetering between good and bad, the criminal world and the world of law and order. There’s one really interesting shot of her at the Kettleman’s trailer. (I don’t Reddit—all of my supplementation comes from YouTube videos or the official BCS podcast, which I would highly recommend—or I would post screenshots.

It’s pretty well known that they use color patterns very intentionally in this universe, but listening to the podcast, the colors in BB don’t necessarily mean the same thing they do in BCS. From the creators’ mouths, they use blues to represent the world of law and order, reds for the criminal world. The shot I referred to has Kim sitting on the couch in front of a wall that looks like the American flag. The bottom half is red (criminal world) and white horizontal stripes, eliciting images of bars. And Kim’s body is in front of those. However, her head is in front of the blue (law and order) portion of the wall, perhaps indicating there’s still an internal struggle going on.

Ham is right about a lot—these filmmakers don’t do things for no reason. Their compositions mean something. So that beautiful shot from the pilot with Jimmy and Kim smoking a cigarette where Jimmy is in the light and Kim is in the shadow is absolutely something they would do if they wanted to foreshadow her being in the background, the shadows, in BB.

However, what Ham doesn’t seem to grasp is that they don’t plan things out that far in advance. Like with Aaron Paul, who was supposed to be killed off in Season 1 of BB, they didn’t know what they had with Rhea Seahorn at the time. They didn’t know how brilliant of an actress she was, what kind of chemistry she was going to have with Bob, the fans’ reactions to her as a character, etc…They would never (imo) have committed so early on to such a thing, especially one that’s so “meh.” I’ve never understood why Ham thinks that would be so awesome in the first place. And they don’t like to plan too far ahead because they get off on writing themselves into corners and figuring ways out. And for that, they have to let the characters breathe, give them room to evolve and add layers, become more 3 dimensional. I just don’t see how predetermining Kim’s whereabouts and importance to Saul in BB is something they would have done before they even shot the pilot.

Also, they’re going to subvert expectations somehow. So even if that was the plan, if the Hams of the world were online predicting their exact plan, they would figure out a way to go in a different direction. They weren’t gonna commit to 8 years of their lives after the 6 or 7 of BB to a big surprise ending that people were already guessing from the jump. But, we will see in due time.

or it could be foreshadowing that we see jimmy in BB but we dont see kim so shes gone just a shadow in BB. thats the problem with taking symbolism to infer plot developments, it is just too loosely able to be interpreted. BCS/BB symbolism is for themes of law vs order. innocent vs evil. kim in the shadows is symbolic of kim getting deeper into shady law with jimmy, or she's got a mysterious unknown background.

the first paragraph quoted is what they use symbolic imagery for, not foreshadowing.

foreshadowing is a broken shard of glass next to a desert flower like the nacho episode. its a burnt pink teddy bear floating in walters pool. its Kim's tequila stopper left behind and 1 toothbrush in sauls sink when his place was getting cleaned out.

spot on, they wouldn't have done that at all. those teasers ham uses as proof is simply symbolism, its not foreshadowing nor plot.

everyone is predicting a ton of stuff. and almost all or all will be wrong. but im with you here. theres pretty much 1 path (and its the lames most cliche path) they can take to have kim be working in the shadows during BB, but theres 50 ways for that to not happen.
