TLJ is worse than people say it is. Putting aside its plot, character, acting, and pacing issues TLJ literally destroyed the Star Wars Universe. Attack of the Clones is an overstuffed boring horrific mess, it absolutely sucked, but it didn't actively destroy the entire Star Wars universe while retconning everything meaningful in the established movies. TLJ did exactly that.
Luke Skywalker attempted to murder his sleeping child nephew son of his best friend in cold blood because of a bad dream.
Leia is a pathetic mess of a leader with no spine or intelligence.
Yoda has the ability to force lightening from beyond the grave but uses it to burn down a tree instead of the literally thousands of useful applications.
The leadership of the resistance tells its subordinates to shut the frick up and follow orders without question.
Vader's grandson trained by Luke is a babbling moron who constantly gets his arse kicked.
The entire Canto Bright story line and every scene Rose is in.
The Sith not only weren't defeated in RotJ, but there were more of them and they came back stronger. Same goes for the Empire.
I could go on and on. frick Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy and Disney and everyone involved in that sit show

so just randomized chaos and conflict is "challenging", as opposed to a coherent narrative that may fall in line with a classical storytelling trope

TLJ couldn't even get the new characters right.
Hux goes from Space Hitler to a sniveling buffoon.
Poe gets scolded and grounded because he dared to be heroic, and he has no purpose after the first act of the movie.
Finn is useless and only exists to drag the audience through pointless subplots.

and he was right all along. If he hadnt taken out the dreadnaught the resistance would have never made it to crait to die in a cave.

Someone told me if not for Poe sending Rose and Finn to Canto Bight, and Rose and Poe picking up DJ, and them then telling the entire plan to DJ, and then DJ not selling out to the first order, Holdo's escape to Crait would have worked,
Except that... all their ships would have been destroyed, and they would have been stranded on Crait, and the First Order would have just teracked the Transports there and murdered them all.
The only reason the last 800 or whatever made it to Crait was Poe blowing up the dreadnaught.

True, but it was one of the dumbest things in TLJ.
and it was totally unnecessary.
If the plot goal was to put Leia in a coma for half the movie, then simply have her use the force to stop the torpedos inches from hitting the cockpit. Let her struggle with it and clear the deck before wearing down and letting them go and then put her in the coma.
That scene is 100x better than space Poppins and took all of five seconds to think up.
It’s like no one at Disney even read the script before cutting Johnson a blank check.
