That happens a good bit. Sloppy editing or a scene they really can't cut out but has some elements that don't get address later.

Nick Fury is the spy of all spies - "his secrets have secrets" - yet he doesn't notice that Hydra has infiltrated all levels of government to the point a United States senator is exchanging public "Hail Hydra" greetings with other government functionaries in The Winter Soldier? Even his own SHIELD organization is so riddled with Hydra that an entire reaction team is available to ambush Cap in an elevator.
Apparently, Hydra is a better recruiter than Frank Wilson, Jeremy Pruitt and Trooper Taylor combined. Because there must not be a single SHIELD special agent who was approached by Hydra, refused their advances and notified authorities. Nope, Hydra is 100% effective in getting SHIELD agents to flip.
The REC's Charger/Challenger program isn't even that effective.

This is probably a reasonable gripe. The first time they tried, the police department sent someone over to look, but nobody answered. If Kevin's parents were decent human beings, they would ask the cops to break down their damn door and find their son. Instead, the mom decided to take the longest possible route home while the dad decided to not let a missing child ruin their vacation.

There's a lot of dead bodies piled up by Hydra. I'm sure agents that fell from favor or waivered were the first to go MIA/Kia.

The phone lines were out from the storm that knocked out power the night before. Of course, that doesn’t explain how Kevin was able to order pizza the next day.

The phones were out for less than 24 hours. Kevin used it a few times in the movie and he wasn't home alone for weeks. The parents just gave up.
I meant why did Kevin not call the cops when he heard they were gonna come back that night. Instead of allowing them to come and risking his life. No 8 year old would go through all that trouble.

Is all this just nerd semantics? Greedo was trying to apprehend him with threats and a good likelihood of death or serious bodily harm, maybe even torture. So Han shot him. Good shoot under the circumstances.

Why did the aliens only target Metropolitan Cities?
We lost a massive portion of our population but not any aspect of our Military and defenses.
Sounds like a terrible battle strategy for a superior life form with advanced tech attempting a world takeover.
