They were noticeably fake.
No shite.
Only because you know the truth behind them with their actors.
They were still well done and took nothing away from the movie.

Damned good. Damned entertaining. Epic space battle. Essentially resurrected Cushing (although, the real one was more gaunt). Good fan service without being too nostalgic. Vader was a serious badass. Literally takes you to the first frames of Star WarsANH.

Holy shite that was incredible. That Vader scene is was one of th best scenes in any of the Star Wars movies. I never thought I'd see a Disney made Star Wars movie so brutal and dark.

It really puts things into perspective. Everyone goes through all of this to get them those plans and they all end up dying and in a new hope they get a brief mention and then that's it.

I knew it was cgi, but thought it was done pretty well. It was good enough that I overheard a guy in the parking lot telling his friend that he couldn't believe how much the new actor looked like the guy from 40 years ago.
I enjoyed the movie, but I will agree about the lack of character development. I only cared when K2 died. I'd have to watch it again to remember the blind guy and his buddy's names.
Also, like most have said, that 20 seconds of Vader fighting was so great.

Just got home from seeing Rogue One.

I thought the plot was engaging, though the characters were not. The Latino lead actor was pretty terrible, and the girl didn't nail the role she was playing IMO. Had no idea what they were going for with Forest Whittaker, all he did was fill the plot. Did like the blind force priest and his friend. That being said, I don't care that the characters weren't great, bc the story was good, the battle scenes in general were really well done and felt like you were right in the middle of them. The last battle on the beaches and the space battle were fricking fantastic. The ATATs were massive and destructive forces. Ramming the destroyers into each other was awesome to watch, and completely new.
And Darth Vader killed it. Literally killed it. That scene was perfect, the way it's completely dark, and all you hear is the iconic breathing. Then the lightsaber appears, and all hell breaks loose. The door jams and the guy is screaming and clawing at the door as his friends are destroyed in every manner at Vader's disposal. It's awesome and terrifying at the same time, as Vader is a force of destruction, not an old stiff man in a suit

Please explain.
Your premise and conclusion don't follow.
You make a giant leap to say it's done to be sjw. Therefore, terrible logic

I understand Leia, but they could have used a different actor for Tarkin and most wouldn't care.
What is cool is that they take this movie and place it smack into the timeline. Every other movie had a year gap or so sometimes more. Here you have escape to ship, ship jumps to warp, ship soon overtaken by Vader's ship and leia is taken.
Oddly what is does mess up, is how did Vader take out all those guys this time, but then was soft when taking Leia a little while later?

I don't think it really is.

Sitting at home and I keep replaying that scene in my head over and over. Serious goosebumps on that one.

The only way to kind of explain it, is that he was by himself this time so he had to do it himself, and in EP IV he had Stormtroopers with him so he was a lazy arse and let them do the dirty work

jusy got back. i thought it was decent and very entertaining in the end. but the dialogue sucked. vaders first convo and jyns go get them speach were cringe worthy. great battle and vader ending scene. i cringed at Tarken too but my wife thought he was real. so i realy is just us knowing he is dead irl.

Save the last 20-30 minutes or so, overall a pretty lack luster movie, but that last 30 minutes was pretty phenomenal. OMLandshark, I agree with a lot of what you said. Characters were dull and uninspired. We did learn Felicity Jones can flare her nostrils when she wants to act brave or angry. Did nobody get suspicious of that storm trooper with the eyeshadow on? Why did she put the visor down? Also, her joining the rebels just didn't make sense. First she doesn't care about either side, joins to save her father, then learns the rebels tried to kill her father and succeeded, but it's okay he wants her to help them so we're all good.
Score was way over the top in the early parts, completely not needed, and towards the end, it was pretty lackluster.
As was said though, that Vader ending. Splooge. Splooge everywhere.
ETA: also, why couldn't the rebel flagship transmit the plans right when they got them? Why did they need to flash drive?weve seen multiple times ships doing this in TCW and earlier films. It also kind of completely forgoes any plausible deniability of the Tantive IV being on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan when they are just at the battle

No question. My wife hit me too when she saw him. It was very well done

It's crazy how many scenes that were shown in the trailers didn't show up in the final cut. And I'm talking about memorable trailer scenes. Im guessing it was due to Gilroy basically rewriting the ending.
Also, I'm puzzled how Vader goes from annihilating dozens of rebels like that then literally day later partake in the painfully bland saber fight with Obi Wan in ANH.
