The next Batman: The Hollywood hunt begins for a new Caped Crusader

As Warner Bros. and DC begin their search for the next Batman to replace Ben Affleck, one Hollywood truth has become clear in the comic book blockbuster film era: It doesn't take an A-list star for a superhero movie to make a billion dollars.
"The fact is that in the comic book movie genre, the superheroes are the draw," said Mike Avila, senior contributor for SYFY WIRE and the author of "The Art and Making of Aquaman."
"The best choice would be someone who is perhaps somewhat known or recognized, but not overexposed or an A-list household name and would thus bring a fresh perspective to the iconic role," said Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst at Comscore. "An analog to this would be the unlikely casting of Daniel Craig as James Bond that turned out to be a masterstroke and an unexpectedly brilliant choice despite the protestations of naysayers at the time."
"The casting process will begin shortly. We're starting to put together our battle plan. I'm doing another pass on the script and we'll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things," Reeves said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter in late January.
Armie Hammer has the best odds on the bookmaker's site at 7/2. Hammer has recently appeared in several critically acclaimed films, including "Call Me by Your Name."
There's rumors that Robert Pattinson has emerged as a serious contender. Who would be your ideal choice?

Why do they feel the need to make ANOTHER Batman?

I'm not even trying to give a shite anymore.

I never fully accepted that Ben was batman so I often forget that he was in the role the last few films. One of the worst castings ever.

Out of all of the problems with BvS and Justice League, Ben Affleck is near the bottom of the list, if he's even on the list at all.

By the time this comes out, it’ll be close to a decade since the last solo Batman Flick.

100% disagree. Ben is the first live action Batman that captures his dominance in combat. Powerful and efficient brutality.

Good grief. This is just stupid. He did fine as Batman. It was the movies that sucked. Not Ben.

Jon Hamm
Jon Bernthal
Jake Gyllenhaal
I’d like to see Fassbender give it a shot but I doubt he’d want to hop back into the superhero gig and I’m not sure he’s as burly or gruff as the others could be.
A dark horse for me would be Anson Mount. He doesn’t have the big name they want but he’s got the look and the acting chops.

Now there's some outside the box thinking!

He was fine as Batman in the shitasmic voyage that was Batman v. Superman. Then Whedon got on board and wanted to turn him into RDJ/Iron Man 2.0 and that’s when he started to suck.
His portrayal in his first outing actually gave me hope he could pull it off. His second outing was horrible

One of my top choices as well, but apparently he's already turned it down. It was rumored that he was Reeves top choice.

Armie Hammer
He's got the perfect looks/body type and he's a pretty good actor.

It's not like this is some new concept. You can count the "A List" superhero actors on one hand. The genre has been successful with B and C actors going back to George Reeves.

I think Hammer could work. He does give off a Boy Scout type vibe though

Any sucky Ben moments were due to the script or plot. He was the most imposing Batman outside of the DCAU.

They're going with a young Bruce again so the older guys will not work. Armie Hammer has the height, all he needs is a few cycles and some HGH and he'd be good to go.
