We have no backstory on pretty much the rest of the Hawthorne staff. I guess it is some sort of parallel to cult suicides.

He’s the worlds most celebrated and famous chef. People would literally kill to work for and under him. It’s a play on the ridiculousness of what happens in the real world with these celeb chefs

Bumping because I just watched it.

Completely absurd but I liked it. My favorite part is the whole time you’re wondering why these people aren’t fighting back, and then the chef calls them out for not fighting

My guess is the people who are hating on it are trying to take it seriously or poke holes in the plot. It’s a parody guys

Probably already commented in this thread, probably already someone stated somewhere...

But is this not just a simple twist, Foodie retelling of The Exterminating Angel?

Had higher hopes for both.

Characters resigned and helpless for no reason except for their lack of will is infuriating in Cinema.

Yeah, I think the parody part went over a lot of heads. I still really enjoyed the movie, it may be time for a rewatch

You seem normal...

I enjoyed the movie okay... nothing special, but a good watch. I like cooking stuff so that helped.

I thought it was great. But I don't pay money to go see movies in theaters either.

The foodie in me loved how they grew and raised everything themselves in a little commune type system. I guess I can relate due to having a bit of a circular ecosystem with my rabbits, chickens, veggies.

The Chef's face when he made the cheeseburger was perfect. It was a good little story.

Funny…my wife and I watched it the other night. She thought it was weird but I enjoyed it for what it is….it’s nice to watch a different, quirky movie.

I got the impression the guests didn’t fight back because they knew they were weak and also worthless and deserved their fate. We have friends that are foodies and the over the top menu and presentation was funny. As was stated, it’s satire about all of the personalities in the room.

The Menu was both pretentious and absurd. Talk about a very goodactor just slumming for the dough.

Sharing your shitty fricking opinions on this movie and Hereditary solidify why I should never pay any attention to what you have to say. Thank you for your service.
