Never trust twitter right after a screening. These are packed with die hard Disney fans/shills who will never bad mouth a Disney film public.

Agree that this live action crap is just that-CRAP!

Hollyweird needs to leave certain movies alone. The Lion King was one of them. Original movie was perfect and the loons just couldn't help themselves but to remake it because they always think they can do a better job. Just a damn shame they keep screwing up classics.

Looks like all of the reviewers are giving this a C+... Which means on RT, half give it a tomato and the other give it a rotten. Go figure.

It's odd to have ultra-realistic animals talking and singing, when their faces aren't set up for them to speak. With hand drawn animation, you can cheat and make the animals expressive.
I still think this will make a pile of money because of the nostalgia factor and the cast.

So I gather that he didnt care for Jungle Book either, if thats the case his opinion means shite to me.

I’m just head to rant about how Beyoncé ruins “Can you feel the love tonight” with her constant over singing. She has a great voice but she tries to do way too much. Glover sounded great

In the comments of that AV Club review there are people saying they’re finally glad to see people flipping on the ‘Beyoncé can do no wrong’ take and lots of people are agreeing.

And this is a kinja site.

I never thought I’d live to see the day this happened. There is not a more overrated celebrity in existence.

Did someone take a wrong turn from the Poliboard?

I thought in the Jungle Book they did a pretty good job of giving the big cats and Baloo expressions.

The wolves were horrible, but no movie has ever done a good CGI wolf, even if it wasn't talking.

I figured with the Lions, Rafiki, Pumba, and Timon they'd be able to make it work. It'll be pretty funny if it really is just a bunch of animals walking around with voice overs.

Tomatometer - 58%

But, but, this is Disney plus it has Beyoncé and Donald Glover. I thought there was no way this movie would have a score below 93????

I never saw the Jungle Book. I barely remember the animated version -- I was a small kid when it came out.
I'm kinda interested in seeing the Lion King, because of the cast. But I can wait four months or so for when it hits OnDemand/the EBRPL gets the Blu Ray

Cool. Here are the metacritic scores.

Alice in Wonderland - 53
Through the Looking Glass - 34
Cinderella - 67
Beauty and the Beast - 65
Aladdin - 53
Dumbo - 51
Jungle Book - 77

So, you could say I was wrong about Jungle Book. 77 is definitely favorable, with only 7 of the counted reviews being less than positive. Otherwise, those all look pretty mixed to negative to me. I don't use RT, because it doesn't allow for a mixed response a 6/10 is positive, a 5/10 is negative. That's stupid. It inflates the scores of decent movies, and bombs the score of almost-decent movies.

If you're saying I was wrong about Lion King getting any bad reviews, well, we can obviously put that to bed.

‘Beyoncé can do no wrong’

1) She has a fantastic voice

2) She's an attractive female

3) She has 30 writers working for her when she's trying to pump out a new single

Those three things make it difficult for a person to fail.

This can't be true. MTV board tells me Disney spends enough on critics to always get into the 80% range.

The hell are you talking about? Kinja writers LOVE to tear people down who they arbitrarily decide are on too high of a pedestal. Just the other day one of their sites ran an article shitting on Anderson Cooper for the crime of.... inheriting his late mother's wealth.

Also, what you might see on AV Club is not what you might see on The Root, Jezebel, Deadspin or whatever else. They have massively clashing hit/stan pieces all the time.

Me either. I've seen it in a play format twice: once at Disney and once at my niece's school play.
