#TheLionKing is exactly as advertised: a beat-for-beat remake of the original...but it’s more nostalgic rehash than fresh reimagining

Sounds like a snooze fest

Its super hard to take the initial reactions from "preferred" critics on Disney movies. Disney has complete control over the reviews at this point.

lol it isn’t like this is a new movie. The reactions shouldn’t sway your opinion one way or another

I am excited to see this. They NAILED this voice cast. Like Timon, Pumbaa, and the bird, I don’t think they could have come up with better choices than Eichner, Rogan, and Oliver

How about the original voice cast? They're all still alive. It doesn't matter that they've aged as long as they sound the same.

The only recasting I had a problem with was Jeremy Irons being replaced by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.

y'all would really want the same exact movie, just with better animation?

What? It looks fricking terrible. I never in my life need to see CGI "live action" warthog.

Bad reviews for this won't exist...

Every single Disney live action remake so far has garnered mixed to negative reviews. This one will get some of that, even if the majority of the reviews run positive.

That's essentially what this will be. Some early reviews have even said as much. I loved the original, so I'm sure I'll check out the remake, but Disney will be hard pressed to surpass what they did the first time.

a remake with new actors is one thing

to have the same voices and everything would just literally be making the same movie again

it would be retarded

Nah. I would have said “except if they got the original voice cast” if I held that opinion. I mean what I said. Eichner, Oliver, and Rogan are fantastic picks

I've been saying this since it was announced. It would be the biggest because casting wouldn't distract you from the characters. People couldn't get past Watson as Belle. Will Smith as Genie. People are already ate up over a black Ariel.

Lion King is going to break records and win a ton of awards.

but was it necessary

This is one of those silly questions people ask about sequels and remakes without realizing that 99.9% of all movies ever made were completely unnecessary.

I'd have rather they picked the best of the best from all the cast members that were in the Broadway musical version of The Lion King.

Bringing back James Earl Jones as Mufasa is kind of lazy IMO.

It's worth seeing once for the visuals, but you'll never pick it to watch again over the original.
This is the problem with these live action / cgi remakes.

I’ve enjoyed almost all of them. The only one I’ve ever seen more than once is B&B. And that’s because my wife loves it.
