Destroyed that entire town for what? To eliminate one reformed bad guy? Entertaining last 2 episodes though.

Yeah, he's not very endearing. He can slap a scope on a rifle and they're magically zeroed, not only for each other but to the ammo he happened to grab. So he's got that going for him.

I've kind of come to this on my own as well. The real villains in all of this were Anton and his crew. As far as we are able to ascertain, the manhunter just wanted to be left alone and disappear. The only reason. It poured so much tech and weapons into Rushville was because it knew that they would eventually come after it.
Could it have "reactivated" and tried to liquidate Earth at some point? Sure, I guess.

I feel like unless there is a S2 in the pipeline sometime within the next few years, they have to bridge to Guy Gardener getting it. He was the lantern in Superman, which takes place before the 2026 flash forwards in Lantern (canonically)

The Guardian wanted John to take the ring, but he refused. I can't see her saying "OK Hal, I guess you can get it back", not after all that effort to replace him, and she now has the ring in her possession. So time for bowl-cut boy
I can see the Guardian taking Hal into custody for something, which would then allow us to get time with him and Sinestro. That frees them up to give the ring to someone else (Guy).

I hate the entire John v Hal storyline. Just stupid.
Pretending Hal Jordan is some kind of villain is even worse.
Episode was good TV, but I don't really like anything they're doing with the characters.

Somebody started a thread about Big Shark, the Tommy Wiseau movie the other day and it’s very similar to this show in that they both have zero self awareness within their own stories. This show has characters who verbalize the opposite of what’s happening in the show. John talking to the “Guardian” in the bar says the exact opposite of what Hal did and has done. The sheriff presents Hal with a circumstance that is the antithesis of what we see in the show. This is the DC version of Acolyte.

They also didn't stick to their own show logic. First the ring can do barely anything at 5% charge, so Hal has to be a complete moron and drive corpses around in a rental for a bottle episode. Then in this episode, Hal can fight an entire militia while the ring is at 5%.

True, I guess with everything else and since power scaling problems have become a trope they’re so prevalent it’s starting to go to the back burner in my mind but you’re absolutely right. Outside of Chandler, who’s always great, there is nothing in this show that works on any level.

To the casual viewer this Manhunter is a paper tiger. From reading conversations on this forum they're like some Cosmic-sized Pol Pot, really, really bad and dangerous, on the show she's a common hood rat. Any drug dealer with money could have a bunch of locals protect them with firearms.
And by not explaining how bad she is/was, they make the GLs look like dickheads for taking part in all the carnage.

I was kind of shocked that Hal really tried killing John this time. In the first episode, It felt like a part of John's training, but he really went for it this time. John got saved by the Manhunter or he'd be dead. I've never read GL comics, is Hal like this in the comics?

I don't think the writers like Hal. At all. I get freezing John out because he was compromised but Hal didn't know enough to kill him. And some of the things he thought he knew were wrong anyway.

They have tried to make Hal out to be a villain; however, he seems relatively justified from what is presented to us. He seems a little stuck up, but I could see that making sense considering what he has seen in his life and dealing with the ignorant rest of the population. Hal clearly still comes across like the good guy.
While John’s parents have proven to be horrible and horrible for how they raised him. John has been developed into a horrible person. Not sure how anyone could cheer for him.
