Fair. I've never seen either of those but yea, I'm sure not completely original. Different from the Green Lanterns I've seen in the past at least.
Seems like it's the consensus but Kyle Chandler's take is the highlight of the show so far. Can't really find a reason to dislike this take on it.
I'm in so much pain i passed out 10 minutes into last nights episode so i can't speak to anything about it. Hopefully finish it tonight.

I disagree. Stuff like this matters when you have writers, directors and actors saying the stupid trash & advocacy pushes , it needs to be called out.

Yep... happens all the time and not at all a reason to hate on the show overall. Imagine if we put every single scene in any James Gunn movie or show under a microscope. We'd be here all day. Way less goofy "Marvel comedy" in this (I know it's DC). Having way less dumb comedy in this is pretty refreshing given all the dumb humor in the MCU.

Except this doesn’t happen. What actually happens is the posters that cry woke in every thread annoy normal posters so much that anything they post is dismissed as attention-seeking nonsense. The evidence is right here in this thread, among countless others.

i think more likely it's a mix of both. there's very little question that the anti-woke outrage mob online has had impacts on the bottom line in Hollywood. it's obviously unquantifiable, but flop after flop is at least circumstantial evidence. clearly there are other factors at play too, like movies and shows just being shitty - but even that is arguably an extension of the first.
but you're also exaggerating about crying woke in every thread. i realize hyperbole is good for making a point, but even the most rabid anti-woke posters on this board routinely post positive comments and reviews on stuff they like. it's like being anti-anti-woke has in turn become its own annoying thing.

The quality is absolutely related. When you do something like make a non-sensical, controversial casting choice, you're telling me that making the best, most entertaining movie possible isn't your goal. Your real goal is to be edgy, sell some POV, get across whatever message you want to get across. If you can do that and still make a good movie, great, but it's going to detract from how good it could have been.
Ted Lasso S3 is a perfect example of ditching quality so you can pitch a worldview.
