We know that Homelander will survive any attack if there is an additional season pending.
Never read the comics, but I'd think a good workaround would be to de-power Homelander through some means. Then you keep him around a bit without his powers before giving them back. Figure they'll go that route at some point if they're looking to extend the life of the show.

This is quickly becoming one of those shows that so many things are always going wrong for the main characters that it is becoming predictable and boring. I mean eventually they’ve got to win or lose. They can’t just continue to look like they’re doing OK and then bam all of a sudden they are way worse off than they were before. Shows like that get old after about three seasons. Like the marvelous Mrs. Maisel, that show is boring now because every time something goes right in her life immediately five things go wrong. That’s what’s happening with The Boys now

It is trying to cover that with outrageous shite

Which is a band-aid, you do enough outrageous shite and the audience becomes numb to it and you keep trying to one up it and it eventually gets ridiculous.
I imagine writers like keeping the story the same from a writing perspective. If they succeed and kill Homelander or destroy Vaught they have to change the way they write the story. And in a comic book this trying and failing and resetting goes over a lot better I think.
We will see what happens I guess

This show showed me that I do have a breaking point when it comes to gratuitous content. But I don’t think that would bother the people that do the show. I think they are trying to push the envelope to see how far viewers will stay on board. I don’t judge anyone for sticking it out but I started feeling like I needed to take a shower after watching it. Lol

I do too but this is so over the top and really unbelievable gratuity it doesn't bother me. They aren't torturing people or doing the gore porn that many horror movies do.

That’s the way I feel too. It’s so over the top with its violence and gore it almost seems like it’s a parody. It doesn’t bother me (apart from the penis scene in episode 1) but I don’t think this show is for everyone

Ah, the ol Silicon Valley Plot Loop.
I'm still enjoying the hell out of The Boys, but yeah, they can only rinse and repeat so often before it becomes too predictable.
I'm usually fine with gore stuff, but yeah, this show pushes it. Deep eating the octopus damn near had me turning it off. When it comes to animals being harmed I think I'm getting soft in my old age. Hell, when I watch Meat Eater I start to feel bad for what ever Steve is hunting.

Thought about this recently. I think we're getting to a point where a "This better work" montage will be up on youtube soon.

Exactly. Those writers were so stuck in their loop that at the end, when the show was ending and they finally succeeded, they STILL had to make them fail

Am I the only one who thought the Timothy scene was worse than the dick scene?

Episode 5 is up and the Timothy scene was definitely hard to watch.

I like the Len Bias reference, his death is the reason I’ve never tried the white powder and never will.

This episode should lead to some interesting discussion

Same, I really enjoyed this series to start and was binging then hit a cold hard stop near the end of season 2 the propaganda was getting so bad. I’m done, this isn’t a story, it’s a political campaign.

Eh, I'm the same way. Definitely no issue eating meat, but there's definitely a huge difference between that and watching someone forced to eat something they're clearly attached to (and in the Deep's case, can clearly understand them). I'm pretty sure if I could talk to cows I'd be way less into eating steak.
