I dipped out after season 2. Not as a statement, I just caught up to the series and lost interest

Incredible 2 seasons of entertainment though. Glad to not tarnish it by continuing

I tried to tell everyone this show was going to suck after the way they ended season 1. Completely changed everything from the source material. Stopped watching at that point and haven't regretted it yet.

Goebbles would be proud. The Bolsheviks are going to win again and kill us all. This is Russia all over again.

Nazis make a good unredeamable villain.
But apprently it upsets certain right wingers now.
I think most people don't equate nazis with normal republicans. I can't think of any other group so hated in history. Red bolsheviks are good villains too but the soviet union crumbled. Germany built up and almost took over the world in a few years. They had death camps they tortured their own people. They make good boogie men.
Now peacemaker had ONE EPISODE that revealed they were in a nazi controlled world. And the Boys had one character that turned out to be an old German nazi. This character was not treated well and her arc was not long

So.. what this REALLY is, is overly political sky screamers trying to stir up shite.
Now the real issue with The Boys is the story fell apart after season 2. But the nazi angle was so minor.

There is serious political division in this country. But NAZIs on TV isn't the issue.

I can't remember hearing Democrats cry about Communist being bad guys like conservatives here cry about Nazis.

Though it's mostly the same people over and over again.

That’s a lot of words for such a simple question.

I’m not sure who is crying but OK.

Communists killed more people than nazis.

Who should be hated more?

Who runs Hollywood?

It's not a simple questiin though.
Nazis are a good villain.
Are red soviets a better villain? Maybe.

Who runs hollywood? Are you trying to say Communists? Jews? Democrats?

Money rules hollywood. Whatever makes money.

Had we lost ww2 we would be nazi nation now. Had we lost the cold war we would be a wasteland. Both are scary. Both make good villains. But i don't see anyone defending communist used as bad guys.

Maybe if they were used as the default villain you might.

But we don’t have to worry about that.
Both are evil. Nazi are pushed for a reason. It’s ok to not see that reason.

No big deal.

Season 1 technically takes place before the source material starts. The Rogen Goldberg duo did this with Preacher as well.

Also, the biggest change from the source material is how it tones down so much of the nazi and fascism stuff, along with toning down the gore.

Nothing about the series is subtle, and the comic was even more blunt in every way.

No it doesn't. The first season is almost a complete pastiche of the first few comic book issues, until the last episode. From that point, it was irredeemable.

I'm not saying they needed to go panel by panel and word by word, but the things they changed completely ruined multiple threads from the source material.

The Boys was so good in the beginning. There was always political undertones, but they were subtle and done well. Now it feels like they're just beating us over the head with their ideas of "Trump is a bad guy and wants to kill us all!'

I'm still going to finish the show mainly because I hate getting invested in a show only to never find out how it ends. But the show definitely went downhill especially in season 4.

Sadly, that is much of Hollywood's output over the last 8 to 10 years.

I don't get invested in any of it. I enjoyed Severance. That's about the only new show since BCS that I've watched.

I think the democrats and the media go out of their way to portray "normal Republicans" as Nazis. They've been doing it for years. When a "normal Republican" like Charlie Kirk gets murdered because of the messaging, maybe it has a bigger influence than you are willing to admit. For movies and television shows, the Nazi bad guy trope is usually laziness or a continuation of the political messaging that Hollywood loves.

Think about it. There is a certain group of people that occupy a majority of the higher up positions in Hollywood.

There is pretty much not a year goes by that we don't have one or more big Hollywood movies set in WWII/Holocaust.

I mean Homelander is Trump - it's so brazenly obvious it's pathetic. They literally knock you over the head with the finesse of an elephant with their socio-political agenda and I'm not bothered nearly as much as most here by things like that, but this show has no pretense.
