There have been plenty of fun batman movies. This one just wasn't my cup of tea.

i'm not so much irked that you didn't like the movie. everyone has their tastes. however, the fact that you were expecting it to be fun and lighthearted given the entire conversations and trailers this movie has had on this forum is really blowing my mind.

Just watched it again. Wanted to give it a second watch before ranking it.

To me, it’s the best Batman movie. I certainly understand why some people will prefer The Dark Knight. Ledger is transcendent and mesmerizing.

But this was everything I want in a Batman movie. It is the best version of Batman we get, they absolutely nailed the terror and brutality of Batman. Best Gotham by a long shot. Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman are fantastic. Detective Batman movie. The score was phenomenal.

And I absolutely love the angle of a movie about Batman learning to become Bruce Wayne instead of an origin story where Bruce learns to be Batman.

ETA: Also I’ve never cared about car chases in movies, including Batman movies. This car chase got me hyped - even on the second viewing not in an IMAX theatre. It’s incredible.

The hallway scene with the lights out and gunshots is also iconic and one of the best action scenes in any movie in quite some time imo

I didn't expect it to be lighthearted. I didn't want Batman Forever. My expectation was that it would have better dialog and acting. I didn't like Pattinson. I thought he was as bad as Affleck. I think the Joker was a far superior film. The Nolan Batman series is exponentially better than this one.

you're about a month and a half too late. it was the lead up to the deleted Joker/Batman scene in Arkham.

Just finished it. Maybe the best complete Batman movie, but the first two thirds of Dark Knight is still the best Batman content for me. Loved the detective stuff. Gave me that Se7en vibe. Really dug the old Dodge Charger Batmobile. Catwoman was great, but I would have liked her a little more as a semi-villain, if that makes sense.

Didn't care for the villains too much. Were pretty boring to me. It was basically Batman vs the mob. I didn't find the Riddler as nearly as creepy or ominous as the trailers made him out to be. The next movie looks like less mob and more of your traditional baddies.

Yeah The Riddler was pretty weak villain IMO. Everything else was great though

However, overall I am souring on the movie theatre experience. Maybe it’s just because I’m getting older.

That is probably it. I used to go to the theatre almost weekly. As I got older it has reduced significantly, I think it’s been over 4 years since I went. A couple of things have contributed to that, I have surround sound and a subwoofer at my house, and I got tired of getting ripped off on concessions and ticket prices for a mediocre experience.

Looking back the only theatre experience I’m glad I got to experience was opening night of The Phantom Menace. People were dressed up, they had trucks setup with TVs playing the original trilogy, the showing was at midnight, it was the almost like a game time experience generated by the fan base that you would expect if your team was playing in the super bowl and you were there. It was a spectacle. Looking back it was great even though the movie was terrible, but things like that are extremely rare.

You'd be surprised how many Batman stories over the years are exactly this.

Interstellar in imax was absolutely worth it. A few Batman movies too. I never go. Those were the only movies I watched in theatre over the last 10 years

Watched it last night. I liked it, though I think they maybe tried a bit to hard to out-edge Nolan. I guess the next Batman movie will have blood orgies or something, just to keep upping the ante.

Pattinson was better than I thought he'd be, as was Lenny Kravitz' kid, though she's still pretty wooden. I just watched the deleted Arkham scene and their Joker is pretty good. I suppose we'll see him in a forthcoming sequel, though I don't think one has been announced.

I watched last night. Paying for it today as I started it in bed at 1030 with the intention of only watching an hour. 3 hours later, I was still up. I enjoyed it. I like the darker Batman renditions. Also thought Pattison was much better than I anticipated. I also liked, even though his parents were a big part of the story, they didn’t do another origin story. There’s been enough of those. They jumped right into him already being Batman and wrecking shite.

Watched this last night. This movie had so much potential, but it just doesn't work. It's too comic-book-y for the serious parts and too serious for the comic-book-y parts. It's bloated and over long. You could completely remove the cat-woman and Falcone subplot and make this a much tighter picture.

ETA: Also, David Fincher should get royalties for how hard they completely ripped off the scene where they were going through Riddler's apartment from Se7en.

The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and all Chris Nolan films say otherwise.

After a 2nd watch he definitely dropped in terms of whether he was a strong villain or not for me. Definitely wasn't creepy. A bit of overacting with him and Batman in Arkham. And I love Dano. Doesn't take away from the movie from me, I still love the movie, but The Riddler himself, not the story, isn't THAT great of a villain.

Watched it for the first time last night, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Second best behind TDK imo.

Perhaps not, but this movie experience is better in the theaters than not. The sound of the Batmobile in the theater was menacing, it added a lot to the scene. There are other examples, but that one stuck out in particular
