So I’m a sociopath for not wanting to spend three times the cost to sit in a huge room with a bunch of random people who are constantly on their phones, moving around, and making noise?

Y’all going to the movies in the fricking jungle?

I’ve been to the theater numerous times this year already and haven’t encountered this once. And not at all last year. Sounds like a bunch of pussies in this thread

You are doing it wrong. I see at least 4 movies a month, in Dolby or IMAX, and it costs me $20 total.

I love how people are claiming that anyone that would like a tub of popcorn and a drink while they are watching a movie in a theater is "doing it wrong".

Popcorn and movies have been a thing as long as movie theaters have existed.

When it's all said and done, I'm left pissed off that I paid to sit in a theater for that bullshite.

That is usually the way that I've felt the few times that I've seen a movie in a theater in the last couple of decades. Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, Cabin In The Woods, and Batman Begins all left me pissed off that I wasted time and money going to a theater to see them.

Movie was incredible in theaters. Hell I’ll probably watch it again when it comes out on HBO Max.

2 out of 3 of those movies are home watches for me. Not sure about BB. But I wouldn’t let one experience ruin another.

I've also seen the first Spiderman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in theaters in the last 20 years or so.

Probably went to the movies about 2 times a week when I was a kid/teenager in the 80s. I've always been a fan of films but the 21st century films, on the whole, have sucked arse.

The three movies that I mentioned are a big reason why I've only been to a theater 5 times in the last 20 years.

Oh yeah, I also took my daughter to see Cheaper By The Dozen in a theater. You could see the boom mic in almost every scene of the movie. Not sure if they had a bad print or what. But it left me not wanting to see a movie in a theater again any time soon.

no one can tell me they get the same experience from sitting on the coach looking at a walmart Onn LED TV with stereo audio like they do at a Dolby/IMAX theater.

I think watching movies on my 75" Sony with surround sound speakers right behind me in the dark on my couch without dipshits around me to aggravate me while i sip on some bourbon not having to hold my piss in b/c i can pause the movie and go pee in my backyard beats out just about any theatre experience.

I agree with you to a point though, and I would prefer to see the Marvel movies in the theatre, but i'm not wasting my time and money anymore on DC movies in the theatre, or Star Wars for that matter.

Maybe you live in a super nice area or are just oblivious to the other people but sitting in a packed dark room with the populous can be awful.

Are the blockbuster movies going to be better in theaters? 99 times out of 100, yes.

Is it going to be worth dealing with the majority of people in that theater? I'd say 50% of the time it's not worth dealing with the public.

I used to enjoy the theater a lot from the age of 5 to ~24 but as time has gone on people irritate me more and more.

I rewatched dune this weekend and when the imperial ship lands I really regretted not seeing that movie in the theater
What you really missed out on was when the first ship blows up during the Harkonnen attack.

i've already mentioned that one. these guys would rather jerk off to the new volleyball scene in the comfort of their own home than do it discreetly in a movie theater with jet sounds sending chills down their spines.

Also, #WarnerMedia announced that #TheBatman will be also airing on linear television on #HBO in the US, on SAT, APR 23, 8pm East Coast Time, just 5 days after it’s global debut on #HBOMax.
A first for a major blockbuster released in theatres to hit traditional TV so quickly.

I'm not sure i've ever been to the theatre and not gotten popcorn. My wife gets a coke Zero everytime and I get a beer. Movie theatre popcorn is half of the reason I go

Cinemark is the only theatre in town worth going to here. The Regal is more expensive and has the crappy cloth seats that dont recline.

With a $9 a month Cinemark movie pass you get a free ticket every month, it rolls over if you don't use it (so it pays for itself with one trip), and %20 off concessions. You get points for buying tickets and concessions. I dont even go to the theatre that much or buy a bunch of concessions but last time I went I had like 3 free tickets built up. The membership is a no brainer for me.
