Yikes.

Klara and the Sun box office results

This dude's career is cratering on a biblical level.

Good. He and his studio deserve it.

Taika Waititi is slamming "Klara and the Sun" critics as "sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams of becoming artists":

“I haven’t read a review of anything aimed at me or my peers in almost 15 years. But I do listen to the people. So this Halloween, let’s spare a thought for those sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams of becoming artists, and thus became critics. The same people who also hated Jojo Rabbit. Irrelevant. Out of touch. Obsolete. In the bin.”

What we do in the Shadows, both the show, and the film are excellent! Outside of that, I've been disappointed with his films.

It wasn't terrible, in retrospect it is hated as a harbinger of what was to come.

Because Taika didn't write it, he only directed

He wrote and directed Love and Thunder, that is why it sucked so fricking bad.

What We do in the Shadows is absolutely great

Jojo Rabbit is decent enough

He has really lost the plot recently

Like M. Night-levels of completely lost it

Jojo Rabbit and Wilderpeople are both good, but thats all I can think of.
I liked Ragnarok when it first came out but the more I watch it the more irritating I find it.

It wasn't a bad movie (it wasn't great, by any means). It was a terrible Thor movie.

He sounds like a politician.

"Nothing is ever MY fault... it's everyone ELSE'S fault for not understanding what I'm trying to do, even if what I'm trying to do makes no god damned sense!"

He's not taking the criticism well either. Kinda like James Gunn school of foot in mouth replies to the audience. Awful.

I don't know the source material, but it doesn't sound half bad. And a decent cast, so how did Taika frick this up? Oh, right. Thor Love & Thunder.

Never mind.

*And I genuinely liked Jo Jo Rabbit, for what it was. No idea who he's talking about with all the hate he heard about, but he never reads reviews...

I’ve read that book (it was decent) and keep pretty up to date on the movie scene.

I had zero idea he was adapting that story, or that the movies already been out, until now.

Was it even marketed?

This book was super stupid.

And these numbers are really bad, but the movie has been in 900 theaters. This is not a wide release.
