Garfield was great.
Holland and Maguire both have had some good runs, but Garfield is still the best Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Easily the closest to the comics.

A lot of idiots in this thread

Geez man. Movies and stories of all kinds might as well not exist in your book. Your gripes don't make any sense at all.
In a world with Dr. Strange (who is arrogant as frick btw) and a naive Peter who is still learning and growing from his previous mistakes in Homecoming and Far From Home, you get a movie like this that takes everything away from him and shows him growing in his role as Spider-Man. Garfield teaching him to not go down a dark path of grieving. Tobey teaching him that every life matters and how to use his moral compass as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Both Andrew and Tobey and Aunt May teaching him that people are redeemable and that they can be helped.
If you don't appreciate the story telling and the arcs of all 3 Spider-Men, especially Tom Holland, then you probably just don't want to understand good storytelling

Just saw it. Damn. That’s a proper Spider-Man movie!
Tuesday @ 3:15 show & I’d guess 3/4 full. Maybe a few repeat viewings, but still. Very well done.

I had the exact same thought leaving the theater.

it could set up black cat for the next movie
Yes, please!

Provided Holland is still onboard, and they nail the casting for a proper Blackcat.
It really does set up nicely, for a host of opportunities.

Completely disagree. He brought a very tame and calming older presence as Spider-Man. Very mature and grown up. I loved his role and him stopping Goblin from getting impaled by his own Glider again.
Wooden interactions with MJ and Ned doesn’t equate to calming. He had his moments with Tom(the best) and Andrew(the second best), but if there’s any light years away, it’s the other two crushing him as Spider-Man.

Idk how this was clunky dialogue, it was a good Miles Morales reference and it allowed Garfield even more time to shine with his reply "Ooooh I'm sorry"
You can reference Miles as they did in Homecoming, not opining for a black Spider-Man because Electros love the contents of his character not the color of his skin.
Being a prisoner of the moment is a thing.
It was still good though, despite your overselling it.

I thought it was funny the way Electro qualified his view because Peter was from Queens and all. It didn't feel forced, imo. And because Miles Morales has already been teased in S-HC and starred in Spiderverse, it worked.

Saw it today and really enjoyed it. This is a fan service movie. Meta references everywhere. Pointing. Character deaths and growth.
Dafoe absolutely kills his performance. Zendaya finally nailed it. Molina was very strong.
I will say Dr Strange's motivations are highly inconsistent and make absolutely no sense unless the version of Strange turns out not to be the real Strange.
Despite that fairly fundamental problem (which is essentially the movie premise) it is still a great experience in the theater with great emotional moments for fans of the multiple franchises.

Towards the end when Strange said they’re starting to come through, you could see the silhouette of Rhino trying to break through the multiverse. I’ve also seen others say they saw Kraven’s silhouette as well.
I read an article that said Black Cat was one.

It is a flaw that he agreed to the spell, but it wasn't as cheesy as I imagined. There's talk of it not really being Dr. Strange, but I don't see that as the case. He just has a soft spot for Peter, and his predicament, and as typical Dr. Strange fashion, overestimated his own abilities.
I did think that reproducing the spell without any concoctions or special setting as was done with the first time, was a cop out.

“You’re so awesome I was hoping you were black. There must be a black Spider-Man somewhere.”
Despite the fact that the movie logic of why he was pulled into the MCU is because he knew Peter Parker (who’s white) was Spider-Man.
Y’all pretend if you want but that’s clunky as frick.
ETA : as an MCU fan, I’m seeing this for the second time right now, so no I’m not hating, I’m explaining it, but I can’t understand it for you

He knew a guy named peter Parker was spiderman. He didn't know who peter was so assumed he was black since he was from Queens

I laughed at that line and didn’t think about it again. You’re overthinking it.

Also did anyone get the Monty Python reference in the movie?

If it turns out not to be Dr Strange it makes sense. Otherwise risking all of the reality in which you exist for the sake of personal inconveniences is insane. Especially from the guy talking about letting tortured souls die because that's what their fate was supposed to be.
If its an evil Strange (shown in the after movie trailer) whose goal is to destroy reality then it makes sense
