Only complaint with this trilogy so far is that I want to see more “small-time Spidey” where he just fights normal crime.

He did this like twice in Homecoming. There's like a 5 min sceen where he is "small time Spidey".

Also, this is basically a trilogy origin story for Spider-Man. Everything that happens practically sets up the "small-time, neighborhood" Spider-Man in future films

Which is really odd when you think about it.

They basically started with Peter being Tony's apprentice, and then went backwards into a traditional Spider-Man origin with May dying and him returning to being anonymous.

Not really. Tony helped him learn to be Spiderman. He's now ready to be on his own in his own suit able to take care of himself and be the responsible friendly neighborhood spiderman.

Wouldn't be possible without Starks tutelage.

I did too. But, if you think about it you "could" argue that we did have six:
Doc Ock
Goblin
Sandman
Electro
Lizard
and Norman Osborne? His flip on Peter and May was more Norman than Goblin.
Idk, maybe I am reaching. I'm still to the opinion that we will find out in Multiverse of Madness that Strange in NWH was not the true Strange. The way they set up the trailers and Wong being Sorcerer Supreme and totally leaving knowing Strange was up to no good just doesn't sit well with me.

I mean, if we are nit-picking, he technically did show up, just in the mid-credits

Mysterio (with the explanation that his death was an illusion or some shite like that) would show up to form the sinister six.
I started to wonder why he didn’t come back to life, since all the others that died fighting spiderman came back.

I agree- I think Tobey M fit the profile perfectly at first- nerd Parker changes into hero. But he seems like such a prick in real life, it's hard to consolidate that. Meanwhile, A.G. seems like a good guy and a great actor.

Sorry. I'll clarify. Not in the sense of the MCU. The story makes sense. Just kind of odd in the history of the character sense that they went that route from the jump. Spidey doing Avengers level stuff, and then basically "evolving" backwards into the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

I think a lot of people accepted the MCU spider-man from the jump because we had seen the origin story multiple times, but then here he kind of gets a second origin. I'm not complaining. I really liked it. I just found it interesting.

All the others came from different points in the multiverse before they died. Mysterio coming back (if he's actually dead) wouldn't make sense because he's from the current timeline/universe.

I love these callbacks...but also, how the hell did I forget that Octavius knew Dr. Connors. He didn't acknowledge the Lizard being Dr. Connors (even though it wasn't his universe.)

I think alot of it has to do with Sony playing ball with Feige after TASM 2 bombed as well. Writing had practically been done already for Civil War in early 2015 when the agreement was reached and they added Spider-Man to the script and the Russos said they were rewriting the movie with Spider-Man and dgaf if Sony backed away at the last second. Holland was cast very late in June 2015, 2 months into filming for Civil War began.

The timing of it all kind of tied Spider-Man into debuting in the MCU at a crazy point in time with Civil War but the work that Watts and Feige and the writers did in letting Peter be Ironman Jr lite and giving Peter a mentor like Tony Stark and teaching him how to work as a team and so many other things paid off fricking brilliantly in this movie. It is a very unique origin story but one that has never been done like this. A damn trilogy origin story for the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

I know there are some haters on the internet (namely the AV Club) that are claiming the movie was ham-fisted on the callbacks, but I think they nailed the nuances of so many of them that it works out great.

they did the callbacks right. Not like Chewie randomly getting a medal at the end of Rise of Marie Sue

I don't have a thesis to write, though I'm sure I could. I just want to say this movie ranks up there with Endgame and Infinity War.

Towards the end when Strange said they’re starting to come through, you could see the silhouette of Rhino trying to break through the multiverse. I’ve also seen others say they saw Kraven’s silhouette as well.

Yeah we won't get a solid lineup of who was starting to come through until we get DVD or blu-ray release unfortunately. Can't wait for the HD quality if the memes either
