South Korean Shows on Netflix are tGOATPosted by theunknownknight
on 2/16/21 at 7:53 am

almost every major SK show is a slam dunk
Kingdom
Arthdal Chronicles
Uncanny Counters
My Country
Mr Sunshine (working my way to this but hear great things)
It’s almost like SK still knows how to write great stories
If you are looking for GREAT shows up there with tGOAT shows in the USA - these shows fit the bill

If they are anything like Parasite, I'm all in.

I keep saying it on here and no one listens BUT episode 12 of Arthdal Chronicles one of the greatest single episodes of any television show ever (including Breaking Bad, Lost, Mad Men, etc)

Space Sweepers is the best movie I have seen in a minute.

I remember watching one a while back but can’t think of the name.
I want to say it had to do with a guy who was trained by drug dealers to work in the government and be a spy and there was some chick involved? Modern day
Probably not the best to go off of but oh well

The south Koreans have excellent television and movies.
It's a shame people don't give it a chance because they don't want to read subtitles.

It's a fun show, but I will never not laugh how they don't open doors like normal human beings.

Throwing in my two favorites-The Good, the Bad, and the Weird here and I Saw the Devil. Awesome movies but completely different in tone.
South Koreans do film right!

Your post inspired me to try this show but I dk.... watched the whole first episode, I liked the concept, but felt like it really dragged in parts (like the multiple 2+ minute walking montages or the fact that the celebration scene in the hall after “winning the hunt” was 10 minutes long). Then I realized there are EIGHTEEN 1 1/2 hr episodes!!!! Not sure I have the patience for all that filler and/or irrelevant backstory.

Really enjoyed Uncanny Counters. Mr Sunshine was excellent.

The first episode is all set up - everything you see matters (which you don’t realize until later in the season). The writing prowess of the show sneaks up on you greatly.

I’ll give it a few more episodes I just feel like I know where it’s going and dk if I’m willing to put in 30 hrs to see it

Side note, my in-laws are staying with us since they have no power or water due to Houston storm. They don’t speak English. For the last 48 hours, all that has been on TV is Netflix Chinese movies in either Cantonese or Mandarin.
I can’t complain to anyone bc just about everyone that would listen doesn’t have power at all. So I figured this would be the proper place to complain. Stuck deep into TigerDroppings TV board.
If I never watch another Asian movie again, I’d be a happy man

I thought so too but I was wrong
The full report came out on Friday.
