They really need a standalone Vader movie while James Earl Jones is still alive. Make it a few years after Sith. Just Vader going around wrecking shite. Hell make it a 3 hours long epic. Back a brinks truck up to James Cameron’s house and have him direct it. frick, put Michael Bay in sole charge of special effects but that’s all he gets. Rate it R. Have Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Steve Jablonsky collaborate on the score. First 3 billion movie ever. I think OML would even sign up to watch that.

The problem is James Earl Jones sounded really old in Rogue One. I’m also concerned for his performance Mustafa in The Lion King and would have rather they had brought back Jeremy Irons.

But yes I would prefer that to an Obi Wan or Boba Fett Movie, but I’d rather them take risks on movies that could actually be good rather than just relying on characters and stories we already know about.

The thing about Vader is this. I wanna see why he became so feared around the galaxy.

Anyone else find it comical that they are editorializing citing a manufactured exhaustion of Star Wars instead of widespread dislike of narrative elements of TLJ.

The irony is that the MCU just broke records and they’ve had what, 18 movies in 10 years?

It’s not exhaustion.

Some dude I follow on Facebook said it was the third best SW movie behind ESB and TLJ

He's a hilarious fellow to follow

That’s why I want them to make Shadows of the Empire. Vader basically takes down a bunch of killer droids he has built to challenge him because he’s such a bad arse.

Over the course of its run in theaters I'm sure it will make some money. That isn't the big concern for Disney. Its that this was supposed to be the big blockbuster movie that gets the hand off from IW and is a major cash cow.

Instead its likely to be an afterthought languishing behind other films. There is now a chance that it will finish behind R rated Deadpool 2 by the time both movies leave the box office.

I think Disney didn't realize just how much damage the aftermath of TLJ did to the fan base of the franchise. It wasn't just that TLJ was bad, though it was terrible, its that people who thought it was a bad movie were accused of being racist sexist pigs.

You know, nothing makes me more eager to go see the next movie in a franchise then having the people behind the project say I'm a really horrible person. Samuel Goldwyn is probably rolling in his grave that he didn't think of such a brilliant marketing strategy.

I think the RLM guys summed it up perfectly, after the TLJ I don’t really give a shite about seeing the next one vs. IW had you told me sit tight for IW2 I would have stayed for another 3+ hours.

Well there is at least source material.

If even prefer a romance of sorts, if done right, in the mold of the book Lost Stars. There are plenty of callbacks to the OT here as it spans the entire period from Star Wars to the Battle of Jakku. Lots of opportunities for creativity here, as well as a different perspective of the Empire, OT nostalgia and a strong female protagonist.

I had a bit of Marvel fatigue. I enjoyed the movies,
but was worn down. Marvel nailed it with IF, the fatigue I had went away after a decent payoff for a very long story arc.

Star Wars can do the same thing, with shorter arcs, but apparently they choose not to.

A Boba Fett movie could work if they set it after ROTJ with him escaping the sarlacc.
He didn't escape the sarlacc. EU is gone.

And that story was super fricking dumb

I hate they are wasting years on rehash movies rather than giving us something new and exciting in a galaxy full of potential

The people in charge are just really not that creative or talented. Harry Potter, which was written by some middle aged British lady on welfare dropped like 7-8 blockbusters. The Star Wars universe has unlimited potential but is run by mental midgets like Kathleen Kennedy.
