These miserable liberals just can’t ever stop with their nonsense.

Disagree...I think Watchmen is one of the best superhero movies.

Lindelof is terrible, but not for the reasons you quote.

I loved Lost, but his most recent project The Leftovers is one of the most well written show of all time. It’s certainly in my top 5, so I’ll certainly give Lindelof the benefit of the doubt.

Now, I’ve never read a comic book in my life so they’re not sacred to me, and I’m not invested in protecting their purity. I get it if you are, though. But perhaps save your indignation for whatever wrongs manifest themselves onscreen, not by the demographics of who’s in the writing room.

When Lindelof took over the story in s2 and s3 of The Leftovers, it shifted from a better-than-average show to one of the best on TV. I'll certainly give him a chance on this one.

Wait I was told in the Netflix thread I'm only seeing a political angle because I'm choosing to.

Clearly it has nothing to do with the director's vision.

"frick you, you're a white male" show.

Of all things a Swedish/English series on Netflix I watched recently (Fallet) skewered this viewpoint the best. The female lead gives this long diatribe about how she's being demoted because she's not a white male police officer. Which her boss quickly deflates with "No, its because you keep shooting innocent people!"

I have no problem with a show featuring LGBTQ characters or writers. That's fine. But perhaps don't make them the focal point of every series because then you are catering to an audience that makes up roughly ten percent of the population.

Find the people who can tell the best stories and get them writing for you. If the writer happens to be profoundly gay, a transgender Burmese Monk, or a straight white guy I don't care. I just want an interesting story.

The film version of Dr. Manhattan is probably my favorite portrayal of a superhero ever. His complexity and total control of all things is what really reeled me in while watching Watchmen. It set the bar very high IMO.

All of the political interjections aside, if the TV series dulls down Manhattan's power and influence, I'll probably have a hard time enjoying it.

The more I think about the last two seasons of Leftovers, the more I'm convinced it may be unparalleled in television. Not saying it's my favorite show or that it's the best overall show, but those two seasons are haunting masterpieces.

No one can destroy Watchmen. The comic's legacy is secure and it will still exist. You can read it tonight.

but, man... this sounds like a terrible adaptation. Why bother purchasing the rights if you're not going to, ya know, adapt the story? If you think you're a better writer than Alan Moore, you're probably wrong.

I bought the Director's cut BLue Ray about a year ago whilst drunkenly surfing Amazon. But I've never watched it.

I like the original, even though it strayed from the comics in a few places.

How much better is the director's cut? I guess I need to watch it.

It’s going to be on HBO, so that’s a given: Weiner, Weiner, Weiner
