So Damon Lindelof is about to ruin Watchmen for good

Snyder just got by without ruining it, but Lindelof wants to put our fears to rest with an absolute confirmation that he's going bastardize it completely: Polygon

Lindelof says that he and his colleagues do not intend to make a sequel to the original story, and that in order to carry on the tradition of Watchmen, their series must be original. It must “ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens.” Therefore, the new show will be contemporary.

“[Watchmen] was specific to the Eighties of Reagan and Thatcher and Gorbachv,” he writes. “Ours needs to resonate with the frequency of Trump and May and Putin and the horse that he rides around on, shirtless. [...] Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising, yet familiar set of eyes... and it is here where we’ll be taking our greatest risks.”

Oh frick you, Damon Lindelof! Can I please turn on my TV without seeing Donald Trump on the screen? Reagan and Gorbachv weren't even really a major part... wait a moment Nixon was the President in Watchmen. I guess they can't leave well enough alone.
