Because it is a very rare combination of box office success and being loved by audiences, critics, and industry people, very similar to Oppenheimer.

Oppenheimer got 13 nominations. Sinners was nominated in all the same categories, plus visual effects, best song. And casting, an award that Oppenheimer also probably would have won if he category had existed.

MTV board: "The Oscars are so irrelevant nominating these films I've never heard of because I don't actually watch anything."

Also MTV board: "But don't nominate that hit movie everyone saw and loved because it features black people."

Because 2025 was a terrible year for movies

Was it Citizen Kane? Hardly

But look at the films it is up against, and tell me it isn't better or as good as them

Cool. I’ll research it. Any reason why they’d shower this thing with more Oscar’s than any movies ever had before?

To qualify for an Oscar you have to check certain boxes. The more boxes you check the more nominations. For instance if you had a multicultural non binary undocumented immigrant choreographer = instant nomination in one category.( If they identify as multi personality then 2 nominations but this is rare)

It’s going in 5 different directions and has no idea what it wants to be outside of you know what. If you like “I hate whitey” movies it’s probably good. If you like horror it’s trash. If you like supernatural horror it’s trash. If you like genre bending supernatural horror/crime it’s trash.

WTF are you talking about? You obviously didn't understand what was going on. That was NOT his mom, that was his wife (or at least lover)/mother of their child who died in infancy.

Lol. Hollywood is such a joke. I remember when Black Panther Movie was the greatest superhero movie of all time. Hollywood didn't give awards to blacks for decades now it's pretty much the BET awards. So typical and predictable

The movie is above average. That's it. Glad I saw it. It's got great cinematography and a good score, but most of the characters are cardboard cut-outs with no depth. It also doesn't know what it wants to be..horror/ justice struggle/ musical drama. You can have all of those in one movie, but they just did not blend well in this one.

It's OK but nowhere near 16 Oscars good or its hype, generally

Agreed. I thought the last quarter of the movie was actually quite bad

Really wish Train Dreams would win best picture

People really liked that movie that much? I didn't dislike it, but it was kind of boring. Not a whole lot happened.

If you wanna see that part of the country, just visit Glacier Lake national park in person.

I watched Train Dreams and Frankenstein both on the same week. I had more enjoyment with Frankenstein.
