The show wasn’t the same when T.J. Miller left. Seasons 1-4 were excellent though.

I think the biggest blow was losing the actor who played the autistic CEO in first season. That character was and his conflict with the other CEO was a huge part of the story.

Jian Yang is one of the most underrated characters in anything

Yes! Jian Yang has some of the best lines in the show.

It should not have taken until page two to get to Jian Yang.

You want to maximize your dick-to-floor ratio.

The slow build up of Jared’s character over the seasons to his eventual snap was amazing

Not every show needs to be a masterpiece all the way through. This show as someone said earlier had incredible highs. And we just don’t get shows like this anymore with this type of sophomoric humor. It was incredible. It was one of the last truly R rated really male based comedies. We may never get things like that again.

he show never really figured out whether it was a comedy, faux documentary, drama, or anything.
It was a comedy and never really strayed from that...

I’ve heard people say TJ Miller is a douche but you can’t let him walk in that situation.
he assaulted a trump supporting Uber driver, was metoo'ed, and called in a fake bomb threat.
If i remember right he had some brain surgery or something not long after all of this. He is a classic case of liberal schizo/male feminist that every woman should stay away from. He is a pompous arse if you ever listen to him talk, listened to a few podcasts with him when i was really into SV.

I feel like most shows lose steam.
Its prob more rare they are amazing all the way through.
Unless they just do a 1-2 season thing. But even like a True Detective was bad in season 2.

Miller's also been prepping a limited series project called “The Loneliest Megaplex” featuring him as the sole employee of a movie theater, set amid the pandemic's bleak early months.
yeah count me out on this...
holy shite the dude actually called in a fake bomb threat? he got off easy.

In July 2021, charges against Miller were dismissed. Prosecutors said their decision was based on "expert medical analyses and reports regarding the defendant's prior brain surgery and its continued neurological impacts, which cast doubt upon the requisite legal element of intent to commit the charged offense." Miller agreed to "make full financial restitution for the costs of the law enforcement response to the false 911 call, and to continue a thorough and necessary program of Cognitive Remediation to render any recurrence of such conduct most highly unlikely".

The OP is very correct.
This show’s plot was on a treadmill, big time.
Pied Piper needs an investor! It’s got an investor! It’s lost it’s investor. It needs a NEW investor…
shite got old.

Erlich smacking the frick out of that kid is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on television. I don’t know what that says about me as a person, but c’est la vie.
As to OP’s premise - I’d agree that the overall plot got stale over time (with the whole rinse & repeat aspect) but there were still some damn funny moments all the way to the end. I feel like the over-arching plot was never really the point of the show. Just a means to an end.
It also seems clear to me that the writers never intended for it to be a long-running show. And I can’t say that I blame them really.
If they really wanted to keep it going, the thing to do would have been to let the company make it and have Richard slowly turn into Gavin over time (IMHO). Transition from startup to actually becoming a real company. But it would be hard to pull off.
