Serious question: Do any of you actually watch network primetime programming anymore?

The only time I watch live TV is for sports, special events, or the occasional news broadcast. Every fall I see ads for new network shows and wonder how they still manage to build an audience. Channel surfing feels like a thing of the past, and I imagine most people—like us—when they turn on the TV in the evening, are heading straight to a streaming platform with endless options.

It's fallen off my radar.

I watch PlutoTV, Roku TV, and Freevee almost exclusively now. I rarely turn it on Hulu live, but if I do it's for sports.

No one watches network primetime in my entire house.
I only watch sports.
We stream shows exclusively

Just sports. Kids watch America’s Funniest Videos. That is it for network tv.

Not really. Though I do have Tracker on CBS dvr'd. I don't even watch sports anymore. I only watch tivo'd stuff. Mostly older series reruns.

I stopped watching sports in 2017

Haven't owned a TV since 2011

Haven't watched prime time network programs since the original Futurama

And this is where a guy, determined to top me, once posted, "I haven't watched late night TV since Jack Paar quit"

I honestly can't even remember the last time I heard anyone even reference a network tv show.

Haven't in years.

Mostly it's YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, AppleTV, and for a few more days amazon prime (free trial)

God no. We check TCM to make sure we're not missing anything. Make sure we're DVRing when they have new episodes of Law & Order, SVU, George & Mandy... Plus seeing what's on PBS because their streaming can be hit or miss.

We do the streaming as well, but we usually look around the COX listings before heading in to watch our streaming shows.

No, not at all, and it’s been years since. I cannot even remember the last show we consistently watched on it. Streaming, on demand 100%.

I was on vacation all week and staying in a hotel. Channel surfing sucks. Didn’t help that the guide was completely wrong the entire time. Not sure how that even works

I quite honestly don’t think I’ve talked to a person about a network show in 15 years

Well, occasionally I would use the guide, and all I ever see on network is reality tv. Which I will never watch a minute of. So I'd say you're right.

One of the drawbacks to all the streaming, is something I saw referenced in Thunderbolts the other day...
One of the characters says something about a show (Dr Phil, I believe), and another character says "that's been cancelled". First guy says no it hasn't, I watched it the other day. Other guy says no, it was cancelled a few years ago... but good show though.

The Goldbergs was one of the last network shows we watched, and the last few seasons were a hate watch. We also finished The Middle.

Just remembered that we watched St. Denis Medical on NBC. Will keep watching any future episodes of it. Funny mockumentary style show set in a hospital, with Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier.

We watch a ton of show from LPB/PBS, but I now have Passport and can stream them all via the app instead of waiting for episodes to air.

I watch Ghosts, an occasional episode of HIgh Potential, Antiques Roadshow, and Ninja Warrior new and then. Yes, I’m old but not as old as the above makes me seem. I’ve also watched a couple episodes of the 1% Club and don’t hate that format.

I did before covid, but network tv basically has stopped making any programs I like. They barely make any sitcoms anymore. Just wine mom bait dramas and police procedurals, neither of which interest me at all. And that’s not counting the million boring reality dating or talent competition shows that I couldn’t give less of a f$&k about.

Heck, cable networks don’t even make subversive comedies, action-comedies, or thought-provoking scify anymore either. Everything is pushed to the streaming apps.

Basically, tv networks don’t make programming for me other than live sports and the occasional decent SNL episode.
