I thought he already signed on for episode IX? Maybe not. As of right now, I just don't like the direction they took Luke's character. If he's not even in the last chapter of the trilogy, it was just awful writing.

He has been confirmed to be signed up for 9

He probably hates himself for it.

His first scene as a Force ghost should be pretty emotional with him appearing to Rey and sobbing "What the frick was I thinking? I let myself get killed just so I could Skype Leia and Kylo?!?"

Lots of "I"'s when he is referring to the decisions that were made about the movie. Having carte blanch is a movie can be good or bad. No one was brave enough to stand up to Lucas so we got the horrible prequels.

What is the issue here? Was Disney happy with anything he put out because they knew it would make a ton of money or were they OK with this?

My guess is these will be a pretty big part of the Han Solo movie next year. I think that was Disney's reasoning for showing them several times.

Click the link. They were in ANH. It is at 40 seconds.

And are they as powerful as they were when alive? More powerful?

The next movie will be 30 seconds long when Ghost Yoda, Ghost Luke and Ghost Anakin are team up to mindcrush everybody.

Right...but there's a backstory to the dice that I think will be explored in the Solo movie, so I think Disney took the opportunity to make sure everyone knew about the dice going into it by making them a fairly big deal in TLJ.

It was really important to me to, at the very outset, make a bold statement of, we’re going to have fun here also. Relax, you can laugh with it also, this isn’t just going to be a dirge . . . That was the one thing I was most nervous about . .

So in making the next installment in the Star Wars saga and dealing with issues like the Skywalker family, life, death, the balance of the force, power, war...his greatest concern was whether the movie was funny enough and whether the audience would be able to fully grasp just how funny the dialogue was that he wrote.

in law school they tell you to avoid keeping all of your thinking in your head and not putting it down on the exam.

what you think, is stupid.

the fact that these 2 movies exist, episodes 7 and 8, and Luke is the only Jedi alive going into them, means that his journey isn't concluded. You concluded it, in a stupid way, that no one is a fan of.

Nah. I agree with him. This isn’t another Luke Skywalker trilogy. Luke did go through the traditional hero’s journey. Too bad he came out the other side worse than when he started.

I’m just going to say it “I didn’t want Luke to pull out a lightsaber and start flipping around a cave ALA Yoda in Attack of the Clones.”

And I also didn’t want him to be more powerful than any of his predecessors that had decades and centuries of training. That would have been some stupid shite. So I accept the pissy Luke.

Exactly! I was looking forward to Luke doing something incredible; instead we get just lame.

If this pansy had wrote Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader would have told Luke he was just pulling his leg about the father thing and then cut to a laugh track.
