Imagine in Infinity War. . .emotional scene where Thanos stabs Gamora and tosses her off the cliff.

The drama of the scene. The stakes. The weight.

Now imagine the next scene, cut to the bottom and Gamora is just fine and dandy.

This your first time seeing southeasternKige post? 30k+ posts and very few of them have been an original thought of his own. He just watches rage youtube videos and just vomits back out what his youtube gods say.

Was so freaking dumb. Add to the fact that she was just stabbed in the heart right before it too.

You spend way too much time watching YouTube videos and discussing shows you plan to never watch.

For me, it’s topic driven. Areas of interest which I can be shown or listen to while in the car, sort of like a podcast. That’s where personal preference comes into play. Just because somebody rolls out some thing doesn’t mean I’m going to like, share and subscribe. There has to be a level of knowledge and ability to present the information that grabs my attention.

This makes me want to spend more time watching YouTube now. Thanks.

Great scene.

Although maybe not the best example since in the end she actually does come out fine and dandy.

I honestly can't tell you if I watched season 2 or not. I don't think I ever had enough interest in the show to actually pay attention when it was playing.

It was close, but rest assured, we'll be getting MORE Hobbits, Dwarves and Elves of color!

I don't understand how they keep funding this pile of shite. I watched S1 because of the movies, and forced myself to finish it. It had good visuals but the casting was all wrong.

I'm now 5 episodes or so in the 2nd season and i quit watching. It's so unbelievably boring. I don't care about any of the characters in this at all. It's the same bullshite acting, the same awful characters, and the same forced DEI. I haven't read the books so i can't complain if it's following the books or not, but the steaming pile of shite they are putting on amazon is pretty bad. I may end up finishing the season eventually, but there is so much other stuff i'd rather watch.

Vanity project. Bezos' own kid told him to NOT screw this up.

He screwed it up.

Bezos spent too much on this to fold after 2 seasons. Now we're in spite mode, a la Star Trek Discovery. They'll pump out 5 seasons of crap and then say the fact that there are 5 seasons means that it's good. It's the standard DEI psycho retard move.

STD got 5 seasons of unmercifully bad Sci-fi garbage. Picard, the same, until S3, where they inexplicably gave true Trek fans what they wanted. And guess what? Fans reacted positively. Which shows good shows CAN be made, but for various reasons, the studios refuse to honor the source material.

Is there a slim chance Amazon could go off course and for 1 season do good by Tolkien? Sure. But I doubt it.

I bailed after S1. Actually, I bailed after the pyroclastic flow just fricked up their hair a bit. Even an archeology guy I watch made fun of that.

But like with Picard, who gives a shite at that point? It's like taking a shite onto a plate but them putting a cherry on top of it.

In order to get the TV rights to Tolkien's Middle-Earth, Amazon 1) paid $250 million, and 2) agreed to make 5 seasons of this show. If I remember right, they had to submit the entire storyline to the Tolkien Estate for approval, prior to filming. Apparently the Estate did not want something like the final seasons of GoT to happen with their property.

That payment indicates that Amazon values those rights, and I suspect they have other shows in the pipeline. Note they can't make movies, that's Legendary who owns those rights. If you're going to invest that much, you don't renege on the deal by cancelling this show early.

As for the show itself, it's not what I envisioned, I'm clear on that. Some parts I abjectly disagree with, some parts are fine in concept but could have been done better. That said, season 2 was better than season 1.
I think more experienced show runners would have made a big difference. They did solid with visuals, and the music is top notch; it's clear they have the funding. But the direction is amateurish at a lot of times.

Yes. It's a very good show, but I can understand why racists would dislike it.

Wish they would have dumped all that coin into pumping out seasons of Invincible every year. What a dog shite, drawn piece out fantasy fanfic this is.

Kaiju, my honest opinion is- YES. At least, it CAN.

Feel free to check into it and correct me if I'm mistaken, but as I said:
it' my understanding that Amazon had to present the entire show (probably in synopsis form, very broad story, not much detail on dialogue etc) to the Tolkien Estate, for approval. And once they approved, Amazon then has to commit to the entire show, through the conclusion.
*note, this isn't an indefinite series with room to change storylines from season to season, the Estate insisted that you have a complete story before starting, and you tell that story in full.

If that's the case, the Estate saw the time compression (and accepted it), saw the initially different presentation of Galadriel and Elrond (and accepted it), and what comes in the following seasons. Almost certainly we will see both characters evolve into the ones we know from LOTR.

Conceptually (meaning in the vague storylines presented), the Estate OK'd the overall story. So if that's the case and you acknowledge that the Estate didn't want to bastardize Tolkien's work, it would follow that things will get progressively closer to what we see in LOTR, the further this goes. You'd assume that by the ending of this series, it should track- or else they wouldn't have approved it.

I think a lot of the issues stem from execution. You could make Galadriel more aggressive and ambitious, and still retain her dignity. You could have addressed the fate of the Elves (they will fade in Middle-Earth without the Rings) in a less clumsy manner. You could have presented the origins of the Hobbits without shoehorning Gandalf into it, or forcing a "heroic hobbit" storyline (trust the fans, damn it!).

I'd like to see the initial storyline that was presented to the Estate. It wouldn't be episodic, it would probably be outlines for each season, with key points highlighted... and it would probably be solid. They should have gotten better, more experienced people directing and shaping what they had; some things are very good, but some are cringeworthy.

S3 should have Sauron running rampant in Middle Earth, while Numenor builds up. It should end with the Numenoreans coming in to save the day, and capturing Sauron.
S4 should have Sauron's corruption of Ar Pharazon and Numenor, ending with the disastrous Numenorean attack on the West (and downfall of Numenor).
S5 should return to Middle Earth, Sauron's and Elendil's building of their forces, and end with the Last Alliance and fall of Sauron.

They CAN work with that. It COULD be good. Fingers crossed.
