Not exactly a "bottle" episode but it reminded me of the "fly" episode on BB.

It's very signature of him. I didn't hate it. But I'm glad they didn't spend all their time on just one character, and instead split it.

It may be a bit indulgent.

I really hope they aren't going to imply his audio tapes are going to be enough to learn English in a few days.

I actually really enjoyed watching Manousos. I do think it's fair to question if this really had the plot for 9 episodes, but I've never been bored.

I think they had to make it a boring episode so you could get a since of how she was getting lonely.

Yeah, it doesn't really work if you speed that process up. It would have been like when Daeny went nuts when they killed her slave girl friend.

I liked the episode, but I understand the frustration. I think the episode would have gotten a lot less hate if the whole season had been released together and people watched it as part of a binge.

Georgia O'Keeffe's Bella Donna depicts the deadly nightshade plant, whose Italian name means "beautiful woman," linking the flower's alluring, yet poisonous nature to themes of dangerous beauty, female allure, and hidden power, a common duality in her work that she often described as abstract explorations of natural forms, not explicit sexuality
quote:

The name comes from the plant's historical use, where women used extracts to dilate pupils for a seductive look
quote:

The plant, Atropa belladonna, is highly poisonous, symbolizing a beautiful exterior hiding deadly potency
the next episode is titled "Charm Offensive"
quote:

Carol's new approach to The Others yields unexpected revelations; Manousos finds himself in strange territory upon regaining consciousness.

Two things about that set up. One ,she could’ve just picked up the phone instead of doing that theatrical painting of the cul-de-sac. Secondly, why the hell doesn’t she tell them to shorten the recording. She doesn’t need that long winded intro. She’ll call them up to request a single drink and then call them back after to complain it’s not cold enough. She seems like the type of person who gets right to the point and doesn’t like to mess around or waste a lot of time

She just spent 36 days or whatever in isolation. You believe at that point she should be thinking straight and logical? Seems like the whole point of the episode was to document her breaking mentally.

If you go to 35.16538° N, 106.74649° W on Google Maps or maybe google earth, and the view the year 2024 you will see this painted. Gilligan has built Carol’s cul de sac out there.

This last show, Ep.7, was just painful to watch.
I enjoyed it.

I like the contrast between Mexican radio guy choosing solitude and carol going crazy because of it

Difference between men and women I guess I can relate to Paraguay

She’s a writer. 36 days of solitude she should be able to do on her head.

Darian Gap is like *60 Km, right? Spent at least 2 nights before his stupid tree impaling incident. Maybe lasted another day? Inexperienced hiker, little tools save for a machete, no GPS , no trail to follow... I'd guess he got maybe 1/2 through? 2/3, tops.

* Thought the show said 60km internet says 50, which is approx 31 miles.

Here’s what I don’t get. It appears they are coming to save the Paraguayan at the end. If they are just concerned with getting them flipped, so all can be one, why bother? There has to be something more to it unless they think an act like this could persuade him. Who knows?

Could their death bring the whole group extreme pain or something like when they get mad?

I'm betting the deep history and mechanics on how the hive works, who sent the message BACK to Earth, and why they do what they do will never be remotely explained.

It's looking more and more like mystery box, by numbers. Things won't be explained, just more questions raised.

If this was a mystery box style, you'd feel like an answer to your questions would eventually arrive.

It's the opposite. Those questions might have interesting answers, but, so far at least, they are not the interest of the show. You sound like you would much rather a mystery box show. You also seem to be watching and evaluating this based on what you think it should be doing, not on what it actually is doing.

And why would a multi-season show be giving you answers to a global disaster/mystery already, just 7 episodes in?

Without knowing the name of the episode or after seeing the title? I thought the plot of this past episode was pretty obviously going to be about our Hispanic guy crossing the Darian Gap when I saw the episode was titled the Gap. If beforehand then sure, props

This show has become super slow but I find the premise interesting enough to stick around and expect Gillian will make it worth it in the end

yep. Just because a poster mentioned the Gap and I wasn't aware of it and started digging.

ETA look at the date of my post. It was before the episode name was announced.

First episode was fantastic. Since then i haven't really enjoyed one episode. I just finished episode 7. It's a crime that this show was nominated for best tv series for a drama. I need answers as to why.

I know it has to get better but this has to be a joke getting nominated.

At this point I want Carol and Manousos to just die. The only character I like is Zosia and the Koumba
