In addition to Episode IX, Lucasfilm has officially announced development on a new Star Wars trilogy focused on new characters from The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, as well as a new series of films written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. These projects continue to be in development and are not part of the paused spinoffs we’re hearing about.
I am 100% ok with this. If Disney thinks Solo bombed at the box office, I cannot wait for the box office numbers of these abominations from Johnson. Maybe then they will learn.
I blame the fan boys for this. I hated Ep 8 with a passion but supported Solo due to the cast and director. I wont even waste Moviepass's money on Ep9. If they would have went and supported Solo and just boycotted Ep9 then this wouldn't have happened.

ROGUE ONE did well because it was a new story. SOLO failed because it was the same old shite, and there's no new story to tell.
Don't be a retard. Rogue One was a good movie. It did a billion plus b/c TFA was a huge hit. Solo may be a good movie, i won't know until i can torrent it b/c i'm not spending another dime on those asshats after TLJ.
Had Solo come out when Rogue One did, and vice versa, the numbers would look the same. How anyone thinks the box office numbers for those two movies have anything more to do with simply the TFA and TLJ, is beyond me. I can't wait for Episdoe 9 to bomb, and i say that irritated b/c i'd love to have great Star Wars movies, but at this point, the only way they will get better is by showing my displeasure with my wallet, like tons of people just did with Solo. Sorry Solo, it wasn't your fault.

But they probably won't since they have so much money invested.

Get Tarantino to make a Boba Fett movie.

I vote for a Nolan Prestige-like clone movie about Boba.

I don't doubt that you boycotted the film. But you are in a small minority. The vast majority of the world is not a bunch of whiny man-babies.
The vast majority of people simply do not care one way or another about the SJW v FanBoy battle royale. It's not even remotely interesting. I hate to break it to you, but the people who have even heard of the debate is a small fraction of the potential audience. Most of the world does not remotely care either way.

I'm not a huge Star Wars guy, but a buddy of mine is a total fanatic. He's told me some info about the book material that deals with the Old Republic, and that all sounds SUPER interesting. I would love to see movies about Darth Bane, Revan, or Emperor Vitiate.
Would that source material be considered too dark for Disney? Idk, like I said, I'm a much more casual fan. It just seems like A LOT of the most interesting stories are from that time period.

Star Wars is the single most popular piece of pop culture in history. Anyone with a passing interest in pop culture cares a least a little bit.
The huge empire is not built on a small cabal of hard core fans, it's built on a massive population of casual fans from all parts of the earth. Star Wars is not niche programming. It's the movie I can take my mom and my kids to, and everyone has a general idea of what's going on.
I'd also dispute that hard core fans are monolithic. There's a huge fissure amongst the fans regarding the new films but again, most people do not care about that debate. Most people are not even aware the debate exists. And thank God for that. Star Wars is pretty much the definition of the mainstream. Most people will dutifully see one of the movies every year, but the Extended Universe started to demand more time and investment, and casual fans wanted no part of it.
Who the hell wants a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford? What is the point of that?

Boba fett movies.
I'm sorry but I've never understood the fascination with him. I love Star Wars but have always felt he is massively overrated by the fanbase
Outfit looked cool. I remember when I got the action figure after Empire was released, it was one of my favorites. Got both the 4" and 12" (both long, long gone).
The suit design was cool enough that it got thrown into the prequels (Jango), and if I understand it, also the cartoons (Mandelorian armor). For the young kid making his own imaginary adventures (sometimes outside the Star Wars boundaries), it was one of the few suits that could translate over to another setting. Jetpack and a wrist-mounted rocket.
But yeah, the actual character is pretty meh. There is the bounty hunter mystique, but he's never done anything onscreen worth mentioning.
