Which one better predicted our current social/political climate?

It's both but for different reasons.
PCU got the political climate right. It's actually a pretty good snap shot of early 90's campus life. It was so obvious then that so many were longing for their 1960's moment to be able to protest like mommy and daddy had. That's now turned up to 11. Frankly, it makes PCU seem quaint.
Idiocracy gets the other part...the complete dumbing down of society. Only thing it missed was social media and hand held devices.

Because even though it doesn't have social media....it basically does. Close your eyes, all of those quotes from the "protestors" are basically tweets and tik tok videos.
Idiocracy did get it right on the amount of pure sh*t people are excited to consume though.

Love PCU. At the time, I was sure that the PC movement was fad-ish and it wouldn’t age well. But, every time I catch it on, I’m impressed with how it’s still relevant.

PCU by a mile. It's actual over the top satire that became true in less than 25 years.
Idiocracy is too cartoonish, but also has its merit. The better version of that idea came out just a couple years later in Wall-E.

Yes...College campuses were that bad even back then. There were speech code movements all across College campuses in the early 90's
There was a brief debate whether this was right considering College campuses should be a place of competing ideas.
