Yeah I watched it last weekend and meant to make this thread. It's rarely on streaming.

Truly an underrated movie.

Criterion had a 2 Blu-ray set with both.

Director's cut is vastly different.

I have it on dvd but it’s in storage. I’ve been looking for this on streaming for a while now. Definitely will watch this in the next week or so. Awesome movie.

It's one of my favorites. I can't tell you how many times I watched it. My cousin recorded it when it was on hbo or whatever movie channel it was on and I wore that vhs out

I really love the Parker series written by Richard Stark a.k.a. Donald E. Westlake. He was such a prolific author of crime/noir fiction. Payback and the also excellent Point Blank with Lee Marvin are based on this book that opens the twenty-four book series:

I have seen both and prefer the Theatrical Release.

Darker.

Different 3rd Act.

Kristofferson isn't in it.

This is one of those movies I didn’t like the first time but grew to love.

It really requires coming in with the mindset that Parker really is a piece of shite but one with a personal code as opposed to a regular protagonist.

Both cuts are good but different enough to be considered two different films IMHO, as the back half of each is just so wildly different.

Theatrical version is far more enjoyable IMO. I didn't like the director's cut at all; it's an entirely different movie.

What’s the main difference between the two? I think I’ve only ever seen the theatrical.

ETA: I see someone say it’s darker and the third act is different. But how so?

Bronson is a female, and only a voice on the phone.

There's no kidnapping caper.

Lots of dead people.

I watched that one recently along with Fatman and Dragged Across Concrete. Mel is great in all of them.
