never gotten why the spider man series on Fox doesn't get the amount of love X Men and Batman get

X-Men were en vogue in the 90s more than Spider-Man. Additionally, I think Batman TAS, X-Men, Gargoyles, Pirates of Dark Water all stand out with really big ideas over multiple episodes. X-Men put so many of their core stories as 3 and 4 part series.

Spider-Man, as friendly and neighborhood focused, never felt as epic. Solid show, for sure, but doesn't stand out as much when MOST shows were episodic and the 4 above really went serial in a lot of ways.

I watched Rugrats pretty regularly back in the day and I'm still not sure why I liked it. I don't have any desire to watch it again either.

I didn't understand the appeal of Rugrats even as a kid.

Darkwing Duck is on there and the other 2 would be considered 80s along with Chip and Dale RR.

Writing wasn't as good
Voice acting wasn't as good
Animation wasn't as good
Storylines weren't as good

Lol at Capt Planet being higher than X-Men. Capt Planet wasn't even good really, I'd have it at the bottom if anywhere.

Remove spongebob since it's a 00's series and move X-Men up to the S tier, then move Animaniacs to replace Capt Planet on the A tier and then I'd be ok with the rest.

This list gets bonus points with me for giving Ed, Edd, and Eddy some proper love even though technically it came out in 99 like Spongebob.

That's definitely part of it. As a kid, the cosmic elements of Dark Phoenix and time travel of DOFP stuff made X-Men seem bigger, flashier, and more interesting.

If you weren't around then, it may be hard to believe, but X-Men was absolutely gigantic through the early-mid 90s and blew every other comic book/show away. Really only the Death of Superman issue came close back then.

The cartoon was a huge part of that, but comic books used to be marketed and sold at the front of Wal-Mart for Pete's sake. That's how big they were at the time...and X-Men was #1 with a bullet.

And I really count TMNT as more of an 80s cartoon since I think it started around 87 or so, but it ended in the early 90s.

I loved Batman and all, but X-Men was easily the best cartoon of the 90s.

I used to buy as many comics as I could on a little kid's budget, but I learned more about the Marvel world from the X-Men Animated series than I did anywhere else.

Spider-Man was OK and all, but he was seen really as kind of a joke at that time. The edgier, more powerful and badassness of the 80s/90s X-Men story lines and characters were just right up every little boy's alley. Plus, everyone I knew was in love with Rogue.

Wolverine became iconic because of his protrayal in that series. Gambit, too. Everything about it, down to how cool the music was to the voicing and the accuracy of the story lines to the comic books, made that show legendary.

There has still never been anything close to it on screen that captures the real X-Men if that era like that show did.

Spider Man was seen as kind of kiddy relic of the 70s then. He was too tame and the villains were all kind of a joke compared to the likes of Magneto and Apocalypse.

And every comic book show is not created equal. They tried replicating the X-Men formula but it never worked again like that.

Spider Man, Silver Surfer, Fabtastic Four and others all had cartoons around that time and none of them were anywhere close to as good or cool as the X-men show.

And the theme and opening credits are one of the best ever. LINK

Ed Edd n Eddy wasn't better than Johnny Bravo or Recess.

Hey Arnold is S tier.

Where's Pokemon?

Little Bear and Rupert belong on a 90s list more than Spongebob.

I'd put Gargoyles at S rank, personally.

For some reason I didn't think Spongebob was that old.

Animaniacs and The Tick WAY TOO LOW.

X-Men wasn't a goofy kids show. It was serious and had complex storylines pulled straight from the comics. Spider Man was good but still a notch below X-Men. I was around 12 when X-Men debuted and was growing out of stuff like TMNT. Kids can handle more mature content than a lot of people in Hollywood give them credit for.

Not to mention Pinky and the Brain was a part of Animaniacs and they have it as a separate show.

I think they did end up making a separate Pink and the Brain tv show

Animaniacs should be in S Tier and Rugrats should be in D Tier. That show has not aged well.

X-Men is fine and A Tier level, but no Batman was just in every way better. The action is still spectacular to this day. The animation is stunning and the characters are more relatable and tragic. Plus Mark Hamill’s Joker is just really hard to beat. The animation wasn’t as good in X-Men and the action was just ok. It’s just Batman is really high quality, and no insult intended for X-Men.

Yep. And Batman isn't just the best 90's cartoon, it's also probably the best animated (children's) series ever.

Where is Spider-Man? Just as good as X-Men in my opinion.

This is crazy. All those sentinel fights were great. I would put Apocalypse and Magneto up there with Joker as far as villains too.

Personally I’d put Mister Sinister over Apocalypse.
