I think Jeffery Tambor as Hank Kingsley is one of the greatest performances I’ve seen. I cannot imagine anyone else in that role. Tambor absolutely embodies the character. And he does such a good job playing this crude, insecure, loathsome person that you forget that he’s a fictional creation. Some of the scenes he’s in have me feeling disgusted and embarrassed by his behavior; in other scenes I’m feeling sorry for his wretchedness or I feel pity for his tortuous behavior. It’s an unbelievable acting performance and I realized this when I’d find myself being disturbed by his behavior to a point where I sometimes preferred when he was not in the scene. He does such an amazing job playing this crude, insecure and immensely flawed character. I think he should have won multiple Emmy awards, although there was some great competition on television back in the 90s. I didn’t watch the show much when it aired. But I’ve been watching all the episodes on MAX now. And it’s a great show, one of the best satires ever.
But if you haven’t checked out Tambor’s portrayal of Hank Kingsley, it is definitely “must see” television. I’d love to see a character study of Hank Kingsley. This was definitely Tambor’s best performance ever. A powerful portrayal of a tragic character, at a Shakespearean level.

I've been re-watching Larry Sanders all this week.

Hank is still my favorite character every time through.

The immediate turn in personality after hosting in Larry's stead is one of my favorite character moments of his. Also love his interplay with one, Vince Vaughn.

All true. But the combination of Hank, Larry, and Arthur was just amazing. Imminently quotable.

My vote is for Larry Linville as Frank Burns. I think he is the most underrated member of M*A*S*H's cast.

That's a great pick. My vote is Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker

I guess you haven’t watched Robert Duvall as Gus McCrae in Lonesome Dove?

The kid playing young Sheldon. I could absolutely see that kid growing up to be adult Sheldon.
