Because Jurassic World and the sequel were made for 6 year olds. The toy aisles were loaded with merchandise.

Completely disagree here but y’all seem to love shitting on massive blockbusters that are very popular with the general public so you do you.

yeah, it's not a good movie. But, I enjoy Chris Pratt's acting so, i've watched a few times.

Nah, I was 4 when the original came out. I saw it five times in theaters and loved it.

A few years back when my nephew was 3, he was wearing a shirt with a dinosaur on it and I said something to him about raptors. He said, "yeah, the ones with the claw" and tapped his finger three times on the table.

My sister looked at him sideways and said "So... you've seen Jurassic Park, huh?" Apparently his dad let him watch it.

I liked JW when it came out in the theater.

It was a new Jurassic Park movie that offered something we immediately saw as “better than JP3”.

I then rewatched it for the first time in a long time, and it really doesn’t have many redeeming qualities.

Pratt’s character is, maybe, the best part of the movie. His motivations at least seem genuine.

Everyone else has the IQ of a compy.

The story progression is in no way fluid. Every bad event is due to an awful decision that makes zero sense or isn’t plausible.

It is a blockbuster movie, yes, but it isn’t a good one.

It's not a great movie, but its infinitely better than Fallen Kingdom.

My daughter likes JW, so we have watched it quite a bit. I agree with the OP that the choices the characters make become more glaring with each re-watch.

I'm a sucker for monster movies, so I'll always be able to find these enjoyable to some degree. Pratt has a charm to him that really saves the movie.

100%

FK is fricking terrible.

One other thing in JW that bothers me is how Evil Military Guy uses the scene where Pratt, the guy who the raptors are supposed to love more than anyone else, almost gets eaten by the raptors as a sign that they are ready for field tests.

Were they on a timetable or something? No one in their right mind would see that situation and think “yep, that’s clearly a great example of the raptors showing obedience”.

Pratt literally had to run from them to not die.

Also, why didn’t the raptors just murder them all immediately when they started the motorcycle chase?

Nothing prior to that shows that they wouldn’t just kill them all.

There is only one good JP movie. The rest sit somewhere between unwatchable and decent popcorn, turn off your brain flick. It's too bad Michael Crichton isn't around to write a good ending to this film series with the tone of the first movie.

My kid watched those at 3 and loves them. How old are your kids?

Another crazy talking point that I've seen all over the internet that exhibits a massive failing of the series as a whole.

When did live dinosaurs become the fricking morality police? They are agents of chaos who should wantonly kill innocent people constantly for food or to protect their territory. That's what wild animals do.

It only feels superfluous in FK because it stopped happening after the wildly successful only decent movie in the franchise. No one complains about dude getting chewed up from the toes up in the opening scene of JP or Muldoon getting swamped or Arnold's arm getting bitten off (Black man dies off screen - sideye Hollywood).

Eddie Carr gets ripped in half in LW and people complained about how "unfair" that was. Then by FK you have legions of people trying to defend her death as "well, they cut scenes where she was a jerk". Who fricking cares if she was a hero or not. If a pterodactyl wants to eat you, you're getting fricking eaten - sinner or saint.

Jurassic Park is legit an awesome movie.

The Lost World (at least the first half of it, up until Kelly somehow kicks a Raptor with a gymnastics move AFTER she got kicked off the damn team, like WTF) was decent.

JP3 sucked.

Jurassic World was “watchable” on first viewing.

Fallen Kingdom was a steaming pile of shite

I really like all three in the original trilogy. There are a lot of things in Lost World that bother me (the last part in LA is the most egregious), but all in all it's an entertaining movie for the most part. And I find that I like JP3 a hell of a lot more than most people. I thought it was pretty great. Yes, there are some stupid parts, but I can let those slide because dinosaurs.

I will say though, in JP3...I get why people hate the talking raptor, but that was a dream. That was kinda the whole point...it's supposed to be weird when the raptor says his name, because he's asleep and dreaming. And the movies portray raptors as having pretty high-functioning brain activity. They are super smart. So they can communicate (which we saw in the first one anyway) and figure things out. So it makes sense that if they are only trying to protect their egg, they would peace out after getting it back. Sure, it's kinda silly, but it at least makes some sense. Same with the raptor that tried to climb the door when Alan was trapped behind it...it saw a problem and figured out a solution.
